Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Paris and Paris-Biarritz

Les Eaux de Chanel haul

Where I got it

It was early May when I saw on the internet that Chanel has launched a new Les Eaux de Chanel EDT. You know how much I love my Paris-Venise EDT I got earlier this year (post here). At that post, I also mentioned that the next fragrance I would get next would likely to be Biarritz or Riviera. When Julia told me the new fragrance is available (permanent), I decided to give it a go. Usually I prefer light floral with hints of citrus or sweetness. However, the Damask Rose in Paris-Paris really took my interest. It was just the spicy notes by pink peppercorn that made me hesitate a little.

When I was on the phone with Julia, she did mention that Chanel has stopped doing gift with purchases (not sure if that is permanent and whether it is worldwide), therefore she would highly recommend that customers come in for free hand massages, facials and makeup application, etc. to make up for it. Also, she mentioned that  there will be a shipping cost of $10 for orders under $150, which I completely understand. I ended up picking up the Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Paris Body Lotion 200ml ($121) and Paris-Biarritz EDT 50ml ($138). On side note, the new fragrance is not available in 50ml, only 125ml which is $234.

Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Paris and Paris-Biarritz

What I got

I picked up the Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Paris Body Lotion (200ml) and a 50ml bottle of the Paris-Biarritz EDT.

Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Paris Body Lotion. Inspired by casual Parisian elegance, this lightweight body lotion envelopes the skin with a floral fragrance highlighted by sparkling, spicy and woody notes. Another way to wear fragrance. Composition: PARIS – PARIS is a fragrance built around the Damask rose, a rose full of character. Its sparkling freshness is heightened by lemon and mandarin, its spicy notes by pink peppercorn, and its woody heart by patchouli. Inspiration: PARIS – PARIS evokes a carefree spring morning spent on the terrace of a Parisian café. Its rosy hue is inspired by the glistening stone of the grand Haussmann buildings in the early morning rays of sunlight. A spicy, sparkling freshness reminiscent of an exciting adventure in the heart of the capital and the relaxed Parisian elegance that inspired the creations of Gabrielle Chanel.

Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Biarritz EDT. An ultra-fresh fragrance inspired by the pure air and energy of the Basque coast that Gabrielle Chanel loved so dearly. A lively trail like a splash of sea spray. Composition: PARIS – PARIS is a fragrance built around the Damask rose, a rose full of character. How I find it

Initially, I wanted to get the 50ml EDT of Paris-Paris, but my SA said it currently only comes in the larger bottle, so I decided to go for the body lotion because I don’t want to commit to a large bottle for something I have not smelled before. Julia also gave me some samples of other perfume from their collection and I was happy to get Gardenia and 1957 which are my favourites. Let’s try out the body lotion.

The body lotion is 200ml and comes in a clear plastic bottle. The opening mechanism is quite interesting where you twist the lid counter clockwise and the top of the lid will slide backwards exposing the hole. I wouldn’t say this is the most amazing dispensing mechanism I have ever seen, but it was the first I have seen. However, it is not something I prefer. I would prefer a simple screw-top lid and a hole at the top of a stopper. The way that the lotion is dispensed, made the opening quite messy when you close it back up. The body lotion itself is quite fluid and runny and smells amazing when poured out. It is moisturising and the scent lingers on quite well on the skin – at least 4-5 hours and you can still smell it.

As for the Biarritz EDT, it is a very refreshing scent that is very wearable on a daily basis and very unisex. A lovely summery scent indeed. However, it is not something that will last a long time. I would say it fades significantly after 3 hours and you would need to top it up. I would probably purchase the body lotion next and layer these two for a longer-wearing scent.

Overall

I am beyond happy with the new Biarritz addition to my collection. The Paris-Paris is unfortunately not really my kind of scent. A body lotion I can enjoy, but I don’t think I would love the EDT. I haven’t been to Paris, so I really can’t say if the EDT smells like the bustling streets of Paris, I can’t imagine a busy, French woman walking around the streets. I actually think that the scent from the body lotion is more long-lasting that the EDT if I only use 2-3 spritz. I would need at least 3-5 spritz to intensify the fragrance. I would say so far, Venise, Biarritz and Paris are spring-summer scents with Biarritz to be more on the summer side. All of the Les Eaux de Chanel EDT are more suitable for spring-summer as they are very light and fresh, but I hardly follow a rule to fragrance, I just wear my favourite scent without a care of the time of the year.

What did you think of Paris-Paris and Biarritz?
