Where I got it

I received a text from my SA letting me know that they will be having the N°5 L’Eau hand creams available for a limited time and wanted to know if I wanted one. They were $107 each and I decided to pick one up because they are actually hard to come by. After doing a bit of research, this L’Eau hand cream has been around as early as 2018 and it has been on and off from the collection. This is not a limited edition product, but also not a permanent collection so you can’t just rock up and purchase it when you run out.

Currently, there are 3 hand creams that are in the permanent collection. Le Crème Main, Le Crème Main Texture Riche, and Le Lift Le Crème Main. The original egg-shaped hand cream is $104, the Le Lift version is $114.

What I got

This is the Chanel N°5 L’Eau On Hand Cream (hand and body cream) (50ml)N°5 L’EAU ON HAND CREAM is inspired by N°5 L’EAU, the N°5 of today. A hand and body cream with a nourishing texture that diffuses a more delicate scent. A new way to wear your N°5 L’EAU fragrance. Extolling simplicity right down to its minimalist packaging. Its singular and innovative design makes it a true accessory for your bag. Sleek, white, contemporary, user- and travel-friendly.

N°5 L’EAU ON HAND CREAM brings out the softest, most delicate facet of N°5 L’EAU. Top notes of lemon, mandarin and orange soar skyward with the aldehydes. The flowers come like a second wind, as rose melds with airy jasmine and an ultra-modern fraction of ylang-ylang. Behind this floral bouquet, vetiver and cedar impart a novel dynamism, softened by notes of musk. Never has N°5 been so natural.

How I find it

I have been a fan of the N°5 L’Eau perfume because I love the powdery light version of the original version. I have the original Le Creme Main which is just lightly scented (no particular perfume scent). Both hand cream has the same texture and feels the same on the skin. The only difference is the fragrance and the matte-finish “bottle”. Personally, I quite like the L’Eau version of N°5, and since I already have the L’Eau body lotion, I can do without the perfume. But if the fragrance grows on me, I might get the perfume bottle in the future.

Since I have the N°5 L’Eau Fresh Lotion, I decided to compare them. I absolutely love the packaging of the chic and sleep white bottles with the bold black lettering. So sophisticated, simple, and sleek! In terms of the texture of these two products, the Fresh Lotion is more fluid, like a body milk/lotion, but the hand cream is creamy and thicker. The fragrance intensity of both of these products is basically the same.

Overall

At $107, the Chanel hand cream is not an affordable product that I would slather on multiple times a day, but I would use this when I’m going out or I want to pamper my hands. I can definitely find a more affordable hand cream out there at just a fraction of the price, but you are really paying for the brand, the packaging, the luxury experience, and the fragrance. I wouldn’t depend on the hand cream as the fragrance, but it is a good layering scent if you are already using the body lotion or the perfume. I love the cute egg-shaped design, but the lid can be a hassle to remove, especially when your hands are wet or slippery. The bottle can also be a little firm to squeeze the product out as well so this is definitely not something you would use in a hurry or out of convenience.

Regardless, I am happy that I own a bottle of this hand cream, it is like a collector’s piece, I don’t think I would throw away the bottle once I finish the hand cream.  I wonder if I can “crack” open the egg to get all the product out?
