Younique Moodstruck 3D Fibre Lashes and Mineral Eyeshadows

Where I got it: I was sent these products for consideration from a Younique representative. You are able to purchase this from www.youniqueproducts.com for NZD$40.00. Younique also sells makeup with presenters, kind of like Avon. Their new presenter kits start from $139.00. Check it out on their websites!

What I got: I got a set of  Younique Moodstruck 3D Fibre Lashes and 2 Mineral Eye shadows also from Younique. The Moodstruck 3D Fibre Lashes comes in a black case (like a glasses case) with a velvet interior which includes a 7ml tube of the Transplanting Gel and a smaller 0.5g tube is the Natural Fibres. The packaging is really pretty and the tubes feels really well made. The Transplanting gel is mainly made of water and beeswax. The Natural Fibres are 100% made of fibres taken from the Campanulaceae of Green Tea (no idea what that is). This is the description on their website: Our simple three-step process combines Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers to help create the appearance of incredible thickness and volume to your existing lashes. Watch as your lashes transform into something you have only dreamed of! The 3D Fiber Lashes are water resistant but easily washes off with warm water and facial cleanser at the end of the day. Try it! It will quickly become your favorite makeup must-have!  The Mineral Eyeshadows are loose pigments that comes in a clear plastic tub with a pretty black cap. 100% natural, mineral-based pigment powders consisting of finely crushed minerals that bond to the skin offering long-lasting, sweat-proof coverage. High-quality pigments that do not contain talc or other unnecessary filler ingredients. Apply wet for a more dramatic impact of color, or apply dry for a blending of colors or for a softer look. The possibilities are endless as you tap into your “inner mood” for the day.

Younique Mineral Eyeshadows in Innocent (matte) and Confident (metallic)

How I find it:

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fibre Lashes: I would usually curl my lashes, do my eye shadows and my eye liner first before I use any mascara. The first few times, it does take a bit of practice because you need to be careful in applying the black fibres as they will fall on your face or even into your eyes. Work on one eye at each time to make sure the gel doesn’t dry out because if it does then the fibres won’t stick. The brush head is not too big and the transplanting gel is rather glossy and the formula is quite wet. After applying your favourite mascara, apply an even layer of the transplanting gel, immediately apply the fibres from the middle to the ends (trying not to get too close to my eyes because the fibres can get a bit messy). I always make sure that I don’t have too much fibres dangling from the brush because they will fall out easily as well. Make sure you wait for about a minute or so for the first layer of transplanting gel and fibres to set before building up another layer with the gel since the formula of the gel is so wet the next layer of transplanting gel will take the fibres away instead of building on top of it. Try it a few times to get used to it, otherwise it is easy to have lashes with fibres that are stuck together instead of individual thick lashes that are long and voluminous. :>

Mineral Eye Shadows (comes in 36 shades): Innocent is matte and Confident is metallic. Innocent is a very pale yellow that goes on pretty much undetected on my eyes. I can’t tell whether it is because it is not pigmented or just because it is too much like my skin tone, but the texture of the eye shadow is really smooth and not chalky at all. Confident however is a highly pigmented golden brown and looks really beautiful on the skin. I tip the product to the cap and use an eye shadow brush to grab a small amount of eye shadow then gently pat on the pigment on my lids. There is minimal fallout and the texture is really smooth, the colour is very vibrant. Make sure you use an eyeshadow primer/base before applying the pigment to ensure pigment lasts longer without creasing.

Overall: I have really sparse and short eye lashes that relies on a mascara to hold them curled or up. The most important thing is to use a normal mascara before using this system. The second most important thing for me is to make sure the fibres set before I layer on another coat of the gel to avoid wiping off the fibres. In my honest opinion, the comparison photos of other people with this mascara on looks amazing and it really is achievable with this amazing mascara system. However, it is probably not something that you would like because the lashes are thick, long and a little spidery. For me, anything with more volume and length on my lashes is great, but I would probably save this for more special occasion or when I am wearing a bit more of a dramatic eye makeup.
