Bourjois collective makeup review

A few weeks ago I was at The French Cafe for the Bourjois launch event and was given a goodie bag filled with Bourjois products to try! So I’ll try to cover everything and keep it short and simple.

Basically, some of these products had me going ooh and aah while I was going through the bag in my car. So here’s what I got..

Bourjois Liner Feutre in Noir. This is a felt-tip liquid eyeliner that is super long-lasting! The felt tip can create a thick line and the tip can create a really fine line. Highly pigmented and glides of really smoothly with an even line. The felt tip is very easy to control because it is soft yet firm so that it doesn’t bend easily. It is a semi-glossy finish that dries down fast. I swatched it on the back of my hand and I had to use a cleansing oil twice to remove everything. Also comes in Ultra Black.

Bourjois Sweet Kiss Gloss in 05 Orange Pressee and 06 Carton Rouge (RRP NZD$27 for 5.7ml). Achieve a trendsetting smile with the Gloss Sweet Kiss from Bourjois, a non-sticky lip gloss that delivers long-lasting colour with ten hours hydration time. Its oil-enriched formula nourishes lips and glides on effortlessly, leaving an elegant shine without any residue. Experience soft, smooth and moisturised lips. Comes in 4 other shades: 01 Sand-sation, 02 Rose Qui Peut, 03 As De Pink, 04 Incogni-rose, 05 Orange Pressee, 06 Carton Rouge.  Really pretty packaging and the shades are just beautiful! I love both the colours I’ve got and with the Carton Rouge, its just absolute gorgeous! The brush applicator provides a good amount of product and if you want extra colour and glossiness, go for another dip and simply swipe on! It is super glossy and is great on its own or over a lippy. It is only slightly sticky but not thick at all on the lips. It is not a long-lasting lip gloss so removal is easy and you will need to reapply.

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush in 34 Rose D’or. The baked texture transforms when applied to the skin into an ultra-fine pressed powder, which is easy to apply and blends impeccably. One stroke of the brush reveals the irresistible aroma of the rose scented powder. Its built-in mirror and brush is perfect for touch-ups on the go! The Little round pot blush exists in 12 shades to match all skin tones. These little round pots of blush are so pretty! The magnetic close is perfect to put this into the handbag as it also comes with a little curved brush for application! I usually don’t like to use the brush that comes with a blush because always use a blush brush to buff the pigment and to make it look natural. However this little curved brush picks up a good amount of product and the curved shape covers the apples of my cheeks pretty much perfectly so I have been applying this with the brush it comes with! The pink and gold micro-shimmer makes this blush extra pretty and summery!

Bourjois Air Mat Foundation in shade 01 Rose Ivory and 04 Beige. Bourjois’ Air Mat foundation has been specially developed to give skin a smooth, matte finish that lasts for up to 24 hours. Its non-drying, lightweight formula lets skin breathe throughout the day and provides high coverage for a flawless finish. Enriched with mattifying micronized powders, it eliminates shine with no mask effect for an undetectable result. This lightweight foundation has a really light texture on the skin and dries down to a matte finish that lasts for quite a few hours! Even though it is a matte foundation, it doesn’t dry out my skin and accentuate my dry areas. I thought shade 4 would be perfect for me but it turned out a little dark and yellow for my skintone, so I mixed it with 3:4 shade 1 and 1:4 of shade 4 to get my perfect shade. I love applying it with my fingertips or even just a beauty blender to blend it all out. It gives a light to medium cover and it just feels weightless on the skin and I don’t even have to powder!

Bourjois Aqua Blush in 01 Inge-nude and 03 Pink Twice (RRP NZD$28 for 10ml. Available November 2015.). Bourjois’ new Aqua blush 12hr boosts your skin’s natural radiance with sheer, fresh colour. The water-light gel formula leaves skin with a refreshed, bare skin sensation. Available in 4 irresistible sorbet shades for an all-day glow that lasts 12 hours. Comes in 4 shades: O1 Inge-Nude, O2 Cocoricorail, O3 Pink Twice and O4 Berry Nice. These little bottles caught my attention at the launch even and I could not put them down! I swatched all of them on the back of my hand and I love them all! 01 Inge-Nude is quite nude so unless you use more product or you have pale skin, it’s probably not going to show up. I love 03 Pink Twice which is a really fresh pink that blends in so well into the skin! I use about half a pump of this gel textured blush and just blend it in with my fingertips! Once blended in, it doesn’t move so you need to work a little quicker. You can build it up but I think a half pump will be enough for both my cheeks!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 09 Happy Nude Year and 03 Hot Pepper (RRP NZD$24 for 6.7ml). Rouge Edition Velvet has a surprising texture that initially feels like a lip lacquer. But once applied, it evolves and transforms into a beautiful matte finish with a velvety airy texture that feels and looks glamorous and sexy. It is enriched with pure pigments and evanescent oils , the formula remains light and delivers extreme comfort and long-lasting wear. Rouge Edition Velvet is a daily wear matte, with its 24-hour hold, it won’t leave your lips until you decide it’s time. There is a total of 8 different shades, mostly reds, a lovely bright pink and a Nude rose colour.  I was really impressed and had high hopes for this Matte lip colour and I was not disappointed! I love the Happy Nude Year (also called Nude-ist) because it has amazing cover and pigment as well as feels and look gorgeous! It is velvety on  the lips and looks matte without drying out my lips! If I don’t eat anything oily and wipe my lips hard, basically the colour stays on very well. Drinking, talking, kissing on the cheeks – no problem at all! I only have to reapply once during the day and that is after something like a pasta lunch.

Bourjois Push Up Volume Glamour Mascara in Wonder Black (RRP NZD$ for 6ml). The uplifting brush coats lash by lash, creating irresistible curl with boosted volume and length.  With 16 hour hold you can flaunt your curves all night long! This mascara has a rather large wand and is also quite ergonomic to hold onto. The formula is not too dry and not too wet and it provides volume, but tends to weight my lashes down and not hold my curls very well.. I apply the first coat and wait for about 30 seconds for the second coat. It doesn’t dry super fast so you can build it up. But the large wand makes it a little difficult for me to apply to my short lashes. Removal is easy with my oil cleanser or a micellar water. However it started to transfer to my under eye area after about 6 hours. I think the waterproof version would be much better for me.

Overall: Bourjois has the prettiest packaging and the colours are selected very well! The products are not too bad either, I absolutely love the Rouge Edition Velvet in both the shades I’ve tried – the texture, the finish, the longevity and the feel on my lips is just really good value for money and pretty comparable to more expensive brands! I also love their blush – it’s a nice tint to the cheeks that feels fresh and super natural! It’s buildable and just so easy to use! The little glosses are really pretty and gives a really nice sheer wash of colour – I love applying this to a creamy lipstick to add a bit of gloss for a daytime look. The foundation however I find is a bit drying – it tends to stick to my dry areas and sink into my pores after a few hours of wear – it dries down really quick and would definitely need to be powdered to set it all down. The eyeliner is pigmented and easy to draw but it does transfer after about 7 hours or wear on my eyes so that is a little shame.  I haven’t worn the nail polishes because it just isn’t my thing at the moment – no time and my hands are always under tough treatment and hard work, it will chip in no time. I can’t be bothered removing it and applying another shade.  Anyway, I think Bourjois products are totally worth a try and there are some really great products in here and the colours are just so playful and young and refreshing! I can’t wait to try more of their Rouge Edition Velvet shades!
