Shiseido Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation

Where I got it

Farmers have just had a Beauty Week with 15% off everything at Shiseido. Unfortunately, there was no 6-piece gift-with-purchase, but there was a free full-size eye and lip makeup remover with purchases over $99. I decided to pick up this foundation along with a refill of the Eudermine Activating Essence because I just ran out. The foundation is $68.85 after a 15% discount from $81. Smith and Caughey’s and Life Pharmacy sell this for $80.

How I find it

The foundation comes in a graduated transparent glass bottle. Comes with a pull-off lid and an airless pump. The pump is the signature Shiseido red and the lid also has red detailing. The texture of the foundation is fluid, not watery-light, but it feels like a light lotion. It runs from the hand, but not too fast.

I like to use one pump for my whole face and I have been using either a damp beauty sponge or a flat-top kabuki brush to apply the foundation. I find that using the damp sponge gives me a more natural and even coverage, but it is sheerer than with a brush. I usually would not powder all over the foundation to keep that natural finish. I only apply loose powder over my forehead down my nose and just on either side of my nose.

Using a brush gives more coverage and still achieves that natural glow finish. No brush marks or streaks, it did not accentuate my pores or fine lines. Upon application, the overall look is not cakey or heavy but natural with your skin showing through. I wouldn’t say this is ultra long-wearing due to its natural, dewy finish, but it certainly does not fade away in patches or look obnoxious when rubbed off in areas.

Overall

I have worn this foundation for an evening event as well as a day at church and lunch afterward. This foundation really ticked a lot of my boxes – natural finish, lightweight on the skin, not too dewy and not too matte, has decent longevity, and fades gracefully. The shade match was also unrivaled, I am very pleased. I would definitely recommend this if you love a natural look for your base, leaning toward the sheer to medium coverage. If you have combination skin leaning dehydrated and dry this foundation would be great. If you have really dry skin, I would recommend using a hydrating base beforehand.

This foundation has found its place on the top shelf alongside my Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation. Shiseido winning closely due to its price. Chanel is $113 and Shiseido is only $80.
