Kosho Cosmetics review

Where I got it

I have been following Aesthetikonzept on Instagram for a few months when I saw one of their post about a matcha-based skincare range. I was intrigued because I personally love to drink matcha and I know the good health and skincare benefits of green tea. One day, the team from Aesthetikonzept reached out to send me some PR samples in exchange for my opinion and possible exposure. I am not paid for any posts, but I like to support small, local-owned businesses. Aesthetikonzept is a family-owned business based in New Zealand and they are the only New Zealand stockist that stocks Kosho Cosmetics all the way from Switzerland.

Kosho cosmetics is a Swiss skincare brand focusing on Japanese Matcha. Matcha is green tea (camelia sinensis) ground into a fine powder with an intense green colour and it very rich in catechins, vitmins and amino acids. All Kosho products are free of parabens, PEGs, silicones and mineral oils. Developed and manufactured without animal testing.

How I find it

The Multi-effect peeling is an exfoliating peeling gel that is used 1-2 times a week depending on your skin type and how your skin feels. It is a thick, gel-based peel with green particles inside. It is not one of those peeling gels that when you rub against your skin, it pills up. This one is more like a cleansing oil-gel and upon contact on the skin, it melts into an oil and the green particles slowly breaks down. The particles provide a little bit of exfoliation but it is really gentle. There isn’t any acids in the formula to provide a chemical exfoliation. Emulsify with a little bit of water and massage a little bit more, then rinse everything off. My skin feels xxx.

After cleansing, I would use a hydrating spray to keep my skin hydrated topically. Then I would use about 1-2 pumps of the Full Hydration Serum for the entire face and neck. The serum goes a long way and spreads like a dream. It instantly provides hydration and feels watery on the skin. I love to use a facial mist on the skin before any hydration serum so that the serum pulls in all that water into the skin. Then after the serum, I make sure I apply a moisturiser to keep all of that hydration in. I have combination oil skin and during the hotter months, I would use a lotion-like moisturiser during the day and a cream moisturiser at night.

Overall

I have been using these two products for 6 weeks now and I am ready to share my final thoughts. Right before I received these two products, I went in for an in-salon micro-needling session so my skin needed a bit of healing before I start using these products. So I started introducing the Full Hydration Serum on the 3rd day after the treatment, and then the Multi-effect Peeling on the 5th day after the treatment. Then I continued to use the serum twice a day, every day. As for the peeling, I used it twice a week and building up to 3 times a week because it is really gentle. My skin feels and looks really hydrated and plump from using the hydration serum and it really reminds me constantly how much my skin needs and loves hydration. I have combination oily skin that is prone to congestion and I also have hormonal acne so I can’t use something that is really heavy and oily. I love packing on hydration before I seal everything in with a medium weight moisturiser. I think I did my broken skin a big favour with using the super-gentle peeling gel because it just gives my skin a gentle manual exfoliation, but does not aggravate my skin to cause irritation and in turn more breakouts. I still love my chemical exfoliants (BHA) on my nose and blackheads area, but on days where I want a bit of manual exfoliation, I love this peeling gel.

I am very impressed with these products and I would love to try out their matcha face spray, creamy cleansing foam as well their matcha powder!
