Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush and Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush

Where I got it

About a year ago, Rare Beauty first launched in the US and I was really attracted to it. I was attracted to the packaging, the product types, and the shades they had. I ordered a foundation, a tinted lip balm and a liquid blush (see my review here). However, Youshop (freight forwarding company I used) refused to post it because it contains prohibited ingredients. So they ended up discarding the product. Bummer.

Anyway, Sephora started stocking Rare Beauty in mid-August and it was selling out quick on the app, but I decided to go into the store to try out the shades and texture. And yes, they usually have more stock in-store than on their app, so try to get to a store near you if it is sold out on the app. Anway, they had 2 ladies there to help out anyone who was looking at Rare Beauty. They have pretty much everything except for the mini size products, the eyeshadow palettes and the dewy lip balms. Not sure if they will stock them later this year.

I picked up one of the Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush and a Soft Pinch Liquid Blush for $39 and $37 respectively. All of her products are somewhere between $33 – $54, excluding the refills and tools, which is reasonable.

What I got

I picked up the Rare Beauty Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush in Nearly Apricot and Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Bliss (matte). They have 2 different blush formulas – the melting blush comes in a little compact and is a balm-like cream blush and the liquid blush is creamy and pigmented.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

How I find it

Both of these blushes are so so beautiful, from packaging to the actual product. The melting blush is very intriguing and it comes in this cute little sailor-moon like compact. It even has a mirror when you open it. The blush looks like a button that pops out and I pick it up with my fingertips more than using a brush. I swirl my fingertip into the blush and then tap it onto my cheeks to apply. It can be sheer on the skin, and it can be built up. However, it is a creamy, balm-like texture and it can interfere with your base makeup especially if you have powdered. But if you are going for the dewy, natural-looking makeup, this balm-like blush would look pretty good.

As for the liquid blush, this one is a little more pigmented and more long-lasting. I picked up a matte-finished shade that kind of starts out quite dewy and wet, but dries down to a tint-like finish if you blend it out right. You can also apply this sheer or build it up. I like to put this on the back of my hand and then tap it out and apply it to my face so I can easily control the build-up.

Overall

Both of the shades actually look very similar, both apricot-peachy. That’s been the shades I’m into lately for blushes as they tend to make me look youthful and brightens up my skintone. I really do enjoy both formulas, but the liquid blush is definitely more long-wearing compared to the melting blush. I almost cannot see any of it by the end of the day. They both go on easily, but like I said, anything liquid or creamy that goes on top of powder or foundation that has a matte finish, will distrupt it a little bit. I usually use either a BB cream or a serum foundation with a natural or slightly dewy finish with these blushes. If I want to use a long-wearing, matte foundation I would use a powder blush instead.
