How I find it

When this product started showing up on the Chemist Warehouse adverts in-stores and on the flyers, I was intrigued with the little pearls and the words “collagen” and “plumping”. It is not the first time I have seen or used a product that contains these little pearls or little capsules if you will, I kind of get why they do that and a part of me thinks it is just gimmicky. The pearls do keep some ingredients encapsulated and when you squash it up, it releases the formula and mixes at that particular point in time.

The little pearls are based in a slippery gel base and it comes with a really good quality metal spoon. I pick up about half a spoon of this plumping gel and then mashed the pearls between my palms and mix the formula before I apply it on my face. Trust me, this is the best way to use this moisturiser because the pearls will only go between your fingers and maybe fall off your face if you apply it directly on the face and try to mash the pearls on your face.

The gel-moisturiser does contain dimethicone and that is second on the ingredients list. That’s the smoothing and silky feeling you get on the skin, filling in the fine lines and pores. So of course the gel-moisturiser feels nice on the skin and applies wonderfully. Skin immediately feels smoother, silkier and hydrated, but that could be superficial. However, after about an hour or so, my skin still felt really soft and supple. After waking up in the morning, my skin still feels moisturised and not tight or dehydrated at all.

Overall

Besides the novelty of the cute little pearls in this cream, I would say that I really like the texture of this cream and how it feels on the skin. Of course the dimethicone (silicone) plays a big part on that and some individuals may prefer to steer away from silicones because it may block pores for some people. Personally, I do not experience this issue at all, but I really do dislike that heavy pore-blurring, pore-filling feeling in a moisturiser. I prefer to keep those qualities in a makeup primer or a makeup item.

The moisturiser applies smoothly and the moisturising qualities is very long-lasting without that greasy, sticky feeling. You can feel the moisturiser on the skin, but it’s not thick and sticky. I can still apply my sunscreen on top without having any issues of products piling up or bunching up. As for the hydration and plumping effect of this moisturiser, I think it is quite good and long-lasting. I can use this as a nighttime moisturiser with the heater on at night and my skin still feels nice and comfortable in the morning.
