Korres Hydra-Biome Probiotic Superdose Face Mask

Where I got it

I was at my usual Mecca Maxima store to pick up Level 3 Beauty Loop Bonus when I saw this at one of their little stands. I had a look and I was caught by the word “biome” “probiotic” and “yoghurt”. The brand Korres is something quite new to me, in a sense that I have never used their products before, never really hear people talk about it, never even tried a sample of their products but for some strange reason, I have always thought they do haircare? Shows how much I know about the brand, they do not have a single hair product!

Apparently this isn’t a new product from the brand but it wasn’t something I have seen before. I saw that it was $86 and I thought, let’s give it a go because my skin needed a bit of soothing, balance, and hydration. When I took it to the counter, the mask was only $76. I have no idea why.

Korres Hydra-Biome Probiotic Superdose Face Mask

What I got

This is the Hydra-Biome Probiotic Superdose Face Mask by Korres (100ml). A probiotic-rich face mask formulated with real Greek Yoghurt that rehydrates reduces redness and rebalances the skin’s natural protective layer. This mask works to strengthen your skin’s natural protective layer, which is often broken down by stress, pollution, diet and more. Formulated with a blend of superfoods, hyaluronic acid and skin balancing technology, skin’s elasticity, radiance, and texture is revitalised.

How I find it

This is a nourishing mask, with a super gentle exfoliating effect. It soothes and hydrated the skin mostly, but it does provide a level of exfoliation at the same time. It contains lactic acid as well as salicylic acid, but both are at the middle or low on the ingredients list. There are a lot of oils and extracts to hydrate and replenish the skin but this creamy mask feels really cooling and fresh on the skin.

After cleansing, I always like to apply either a toner or a hydrating essence underneath any masks or serums. After that, I like to get a spatula to scoop the product out onto my palm and then I spread it around my face with my fingertips. I don’t dig my fingers in because that will cause more contamination (even though a jar packaging is probably not ideal for yoghurt or probiotic type of product because once I open it, it is exposed to air and light already).

I apply the mask all over my face and I like to use an even layer that is slightly thick, so I can see the white product on my face. After a few seconds my skin felt a little tingling, a good one and it didn’t linger very long. After about 10 minutes I rinse it off with the help of a washcloth. My skin felt hydrated and soothed.

Overall

I am not sure what is making me look forward to using this mask – the fact that is has yoghurt in it or the scent? It has a rather distinctive and different scent to any other creams or masks I have tried. It has a strange smell, I cannot pin-point it but it reminds me of the swimming pools, like the smell of chlorine, but don’t be alarmed, it doesn’t sting your nose and it actually is weirdly pleasant. You really need to sniff it to see for yourself. I also love the texture because it does feel like yoghurt and it feels like it sinks into your skin. I love this mask and I love using this twice a week.
