Tatcha The Rice Polish Deep

Where I got it

I got this from my local Mecca Maxima for $112. I have been wanting to try this for a while because I love a good exfoliator and I really do enjoy these enzyme powder products. I have tried the Daily Microfoliant and Daily Superfoliant from Dermalogica and they both work amazing. I have also bought one from Dior and also one from Wishtrend and I am waiting to give those a try.

Tatcha has first come out with the Classic one, and last year they launched a couple of different versions catering for different skin types: Classic is for normal to dry skin, Deep is for normal to oily skin, Gentle is for dry skin, and Calming for sensitive skin.

What I got

This is the Tatcha The Rice Polish Deep. This water-activated, pore-perfecting enzyme powder works hard to grant your smoothest, brightest and most clarified complexion yet. A blend of nourishing rice bran, exfoliating rice and papaya enzymes, purifying Japanese wild rose, blemish-banishing Japanese leopard lily and Tatcha’s anti-ageing HADASEI-3™ come together to soften, exfoliate and clarify in a single action. The complexion is left completely overhauled; pores are tightened, breakouts reduced and skin’s texture seriously refined. Suitable for normal, combination/oily and oily skin types.

How I find it

I have been using this after cleansing, usually at night time because I feel like my skin needs that deep clean more at night. I tried to keep this in my shower because I usually double cleanse in the shower and previously I keep my Microfoliants in the shower with no issues. However, the design of this jar is not very suitable for use in any wet areas or moisture-prone areas. The jar is glass which can easily slip from wet hands, there is a screw-top lid and the little slide cover can get clogged easily when moist. Best to keep it in the vanity where it’s mostly dry.

Back to the product. So the powder flows out easily from the jar and the powder mixes with water to create a paste/lather easily. SImply add a little bit more water to allow it to lather/foam up more. I just massage it all over my damp skin and sometimes I let it sit for a minute before rinsing off.

After rinsing, my skin feels soooo smooth, almost like I did a physical scrub smooth! I haven’t used a physical exfoliation for such a long time and I always use a chemical exfoliant because they are effective and not harsh. However, I find that enzyme exfoliation such as this one gives you that exfoliating motion that a lot of people really enjoy. I will be using the entire range of the Biologi serums very soon and they recommend using enzyme exfoliants (see post here).

Overall

I’m loving this rice polish because it is just so satisfying to use – the powder, the lather, the hand massage and the smooth results! I can use this every day and my skin doesn’t feel stripped or dry or sensitised. The downside of this is, of course, the price. $112 for a 60g jar is quite expensive. I just found out that Dermalogica’s Superfoliant is also the same price for 57g, the Microfoliant is $112 for 74g. I will try out the Wishtrend one and how it compares because that is much cheaper at $31 for 70g. Follow me on Instagram to see my full review of this when I put it in one of my empties post!
