La’bonic Organic Sebum-Balancing Serum

Where I got it: I was sent this product for review as part of the beauty tester program from La’bonic (click here if you would like to become one as well). This is available on La’bonic’s website or search for a stockist here. RRP$39.50.

What I got: This is a 30ml bottle of La’bonic’s Organic Sebum-Balancing Serum. Contains 96% Certified Organic Ingredients. This is specially designed to balance moisture and oil levels, this gentle organic serum reduces redness and irritation as it hydrates. Premium quality Certified Organic Tea Tree essential oil improves troubled skin with its natural antibacterial properties while Echinacea root and Chamomile flower extracts soothe inflamed skin. Chamomile has been used in traditional medicine for hundreds of years to protect and heal the skin from the effects of daily stressors.

How I find it: After cleansing and toning, I use about 3 drops of this serum on my palms and spread it all over my face. The texture and consistency of this serum is quite light and not sticky . It doesn’t have a silicon texture to it and it is absorbed quickly without residue or film on the skin. It seems to provide a hydrating barrier instead of a mattifying layer (no powder or matte finish) therefore it does feel drying for the skin. I then apply my usual moisturiser with sunscreen during the day.

Overall: I have combination skin with oily areas on my nose and forehead (dry cheeks during winter) so I love anything that controls or balances oil on my skin. This serum “balances oil” on the skin by providing the skin with hydration and moisture. Therefore the skin feels comfortable and not tight and dry which some “oil-controlling” products can be. It doesn’t create a matte finish on the skin and gives your skin a natural finish. The sebum balancing effects can last a good 5 hours for me if I am indoors during winter time before any sign of oil shines through which is pretty good! To help balance the skin’s oil production, I also use a good hydration mask twice a week – like Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque and Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.
