W7 Genius Feather Light Foundation

Where I got it: I got this from my local Postie+ for $12.00.

What I got: This is a bottle of the W7 Genius Feather Light Foundation in Buff. Buff is the lightest shade and it also comes in 4 darker shades.

Genius foundation is developed to bring a long lasting finish. With a feather light formula, Genius provides natural and consistent coverage leaving you with a smooth complexion and a dewy glow. Thanks to the innovative dropper applicator there’s no messing around with clogged up pumps and messy bottles. The creamy texture blends in effortlessly providing excellent coverage yet is so light you hardly know you are wearing foundation, lasting for up to 12 hours.

How I find it: For these serum-like foundations that has a ultra-lightweight water-like consistency, I like to wear a smoothing hydrating primer (currently loving The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer) as they tend to be on the matte side instead of moisturising. I use the dropper to dispense the product directly onto my face and then blend with a dense buffing brush or an oval buffing brush. It provides light coverage with a single even layer and medium coverage with 2 layers. However, I would not recommend 2 layers because it tends to move around or get a little streaky. Instead, use a single layer but with a little bit more product. Be sure to moisturise dry areas or patches because it tends to cling onto those areas. Powdering is not required as it provides a natural, matte finish. Once the foundation is set (which it does quickly), you can apply blush, highlighters, etc. over the top without any issues. Feels super lightweight and not sticky whatsoever.

W7 Genius Feather Light Foundation in Buff

Overall: The shade Buff was a little lighter than my usual foundation and it certainly looks too light on the back of my hand (my face and neck is lighter than my hands), but the foundation oxidises slightly making the shade almost perfect for my liking (I do prefer going lighter than darker). I like to apply this with a dense brush and not with a beauty sponge because it just sucks in all the product. I love the finish on the skin, but it does get caught in dry areas like around my dried blemishes. I make sure I use a smoothing primer to help the product glide on smoothly and blend out evenly. I love the sheer coverage I can achieve for the everyday look. A very affordable foundation (great for work) that is pretty much as good as those from Maybelline, L’Oreal, etc.
