Shiseido PR Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation

Shiseido PR Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation

I came home to a surprise PR box from Shiseido promoting their newest Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation. Now I have already bought and reviewed this foundation a little while ago and I absolutely love it. If you want to read my review, it’s here, but I will also cover the PR information for this product here.

So the box is huge and heavy. It opens up like a book and there is a little glowing light on the inside of the lid in the Shiseido flower motif. It’s beautiful and there are 3 bottles of the foundation in shades 140, 150, and 160. These are quite pale shades and I’m almost certain that they will be too light for me. The box can be easily reused as a storage box after removing the insert, which is exactly what I would do with it.

Here is the information that came with the PR box…

Backed by over 120 years of research and powered by skincare actives, the new REVITALESSENCE SKIN GLOW Foundation delivers luminous results that last long after makeup comes off. Two potent prebiotics – Fermented Kefir+ and Niacinamide – fuel the ability to maintain a healthy microbiome for a naturally vibrant and glowing complexion. In just one week, fine lines are visibly reduced and bare skin appears smoother and brighter.

“We leveraged our expertise in skin science and technology to develop a multitasking foundation with clinically proven benefits,” says Deborah Ross, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing of SHISEIDO Makeup. Housed in a pearlized bottle made from post-consumer recycled materials, this weightless formula feels like skincare while providing 24 hours of hydration and 12 hours of buildable, medium coverage*2 with a radiant finish. Pair REVITALESSENCE SKIN GLOW Foundation with SHISEIDO’s best-selling Ultimune Power Infusing Serum for 2X the strength*3 and glow.

One of the legendary faces of this launch is Jenny Shimizu, a Japanese-American model and actress who appeared in SHISEIDO’s iconic Inoui makeup campaign shot by photographer Steven Meisel in 1993. “As a brand, we’ve always transcended the boundaries of beauty and that is what Jenny represents,” says James Boehmer, Global Artistic Director of SHISEIDO Makeup. “I’m thrilled that she’s returning to SHISEIDO after 30 years.”

INNOVATION: To create a foundation that feels like a serum, SHISEIDO scientists pioneered Envelop Technology. This unique delivery system encapsulates pigment in skincare ingredients so that potent actives penetrate the complexion first for a healthy glow from the inside out. One of the stars of this hybrid formula is Fermented Kefir+, an antioxidant and prebiotic made from Japanese rice that helps boost epidermal turnover and prevent moisture loss. This ingredient works together with Niacinamide – a form of vitamin B3 that refines texture and tone-to strengthen the skin’s barrier. After using this foundation for one week, 94% of people agreed that bare skin looked smoother and 88% reported that bare skin felt deeply hydrated.*

COLOR INSPIRATION: Choose from 30 true-to-you shades named after materials commonly found in nature, architecture, or design throughout Japan. Use SHISEIDO Makeup’s easy-to-navigate numbering system to migrate across formulas and categories. “You can even use a slightly deeper shade to warm up the skin and achieve a sun-kissed effect,” says Boehmer.

REVITALESSENCE SKIN GLOW Foundation does not contain talc, parabens, microplastics, mineral oil, or fragrance and is suitable for all complexions, including sensitive skin.

J-BEAUTY TIP: Use fingertips, a damp sponge, or the double-ended DAIYA FUDE Face Duo to blend this buildable and breathable formula effortlessly into the skin. For more coverage, apply with the HASU FUDE Foundation Brush. If pairing with concealer, Boehmer recommends finishing with REVITALESSENCE SKIN GLOW Foundation for a seamless glow. Once ready for a restock, embrace the beauty of sustainability with a refill that reduces plastic waste by more than 90%.

Shiseido Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation shades

The PR team was kind enough to send me another shade that would be a more suitable fit, so I was also sent shade 250 Sand. In my original review post, I bought 320 Pine which is deeper, but with the same undertone as 250 Sand. I would say 250 would be a good shade if I want to look brighter and when my skin is lighter during the winter months. When I’ve been under the sun for a bit and have developed a tan, 320 would be a more suitable shade.  I could also mix them up to create an in-between shade.

Shade 250 and 320

As you can see the foundation gives medium coverage and a natural glowy finish. It doesn’t cover all my redness or discoloration, but at the same time does not accentuate the textures on my cheeks. The creamy finish can be toned down just a little bit with a dusting of loose powder which I often do during hot summer days and I want this to last longer.  Add a pop of blush and sweep on a highlighter and I’m good to go! I did not even use a concealer!
