Korean cosmetics and skincare never fail to surprise and impress me. They have really cute packaging, their products work and they are mostly very affordable.
Most of the Korean skincare and cosmetics I have, I acquired them from eBay. You can get cheap prices with free shipping, but sometimes you need to go through a few different sellers to get a couple of things and they are delivered in different packages which are often poorly packed.
Recently, Althea contacted me and they were kind enough to offer me compensation for an unboxing review. So I picked out the products I wanted to try and with express shipping, my products have arrived 8 days later!
I was very impressed with the selection of brand and prices available and they also have a very user-friendly app! You are able to favourite the brands you like, check your order, loyalty points, items you saved, etc. I decided to pick up some interesting products and some products I’ve been heard rave reviews and wanting to try.
The parcel was neatly and safely packaged and the items were all in mint condition – nothing was broken or leaking or dented. Let’s have a look at what I’ve got!
Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner. This toner is highly recommended and a best seller on WishTrend and is quite popular in the Korean beauty world. It claims to be super hydrating and light at the same time, very suitable for the Korean’s ‘7 skins method’. “Skin” in Korean means “toner” so the 7 skins method simply means layering 7 layers of toner after cleansing to hydrate the skin. Most of the time, the 7 skins method is all you need under a light moisturiser or even no moisturiser! This toner is quite viscous, so it feels more like an essence instead of a toner.
Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream. This one is also a highly recommended product on Wishtrend as a sort of a recovery, replenishing cream for post-peels, after the sun, etc. This little pot of blue cream looks so pretty!
Onsaemeein Carbonated Scoria Bubble Mask Pack. I have seen many reviews of bubble masks for a few months now and this is my first bubble mask experience I am quite looking forward to it! It is supposed to remove surface dead skin cells, clean out impurities from pores leaving the skin clean, clear and brighter. A tube packaging would keep exposure to air to a minimum compared to a tub packaging of another popular brand of bubble mask.
RiRe Lucent White Pearl Cream. These little pearls in the tub looks soooo pretty right? You would think they are capsules with product inside, but instead, the whole pearl crumbles and melts to a cream so you won’t end up with a outer shell to throw away. Neat eh? I can’t wait to try this out! The iridescent lid packaging though!
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (Berry). Laneige is pretty much the pioneers of sleeping masks and they have also come up with a sleeping mask for lips! It comes with a little silicon spatula and a cute little pink tub. My lips can get quite dry and flakey in winter and when I’m a little dehydrated or sick, so I’d like to prepare my lips well for this winter and use this religiously at night.
Dr Jart+ Clay Mask to Foaming Cleanser Trio. I have been wanting to try Dr Jart+ products for a while now and this little trio pack would be just perfect. These are supposed to be clay mask cleansers, which I assume they can be used as cleansers or left on the skin as a mask. I have tried a few cleansers that doubles up as masks before, but as a mask, they almost always disappoint because they hardly do anything. Hopefully this one won’t be the same! Comes in 3 different versions for calming, moisturising and refreshing.
Acwell Aqua Weekly Sleeping Recharger. Another sleeping mask, but this is designed to be used every night for a whole week. Monday to Friday for providing moisture and hydration to the skin. While Saturday and Sunday seal in and retains the moisture. I usually use a sleeping mask once a week, so using this everyday for a week would be something I haven’t done before. Hopefully it won’t clog my pores or cause breakouts.
Purederm Deep Purifying Black O2 Bubble Mask. This is another bubble mask but in a sheet mask packaging. It seems like a gimmick to me because the bubbles will form on the outside of the mask instead of the side where it touches my skin. However, I’m interested to giving this a try and see how it goes!
Calmia Silky Perfect Foot Peeling. Ah, the good ol’ peeling foot mask. I have had good results from a previous try from a different brand but that was like years ago. Lately, the skin on my heels and balls of my feet has been dry and flaking to the point that it drags my sheets and duvet cover (ew, I know!). I tried those foot files and foot creams. They work to a certain point but the effects don’t last long and the dry skin comes back. Hopefully, I get rid of the hard, dry skin and start looking after my feet all over again.
Me Factory 3-Step Pig Nose Pack. I use a pore strip every 2-3 weeks because they are quite rough on my skin and I use a chemical exfoliant daily along with a gentle scrub about once a week and a clay mask once a week. When my blackheads get a little out of control, I like to use a pore strip. This 3-step pore pack comes with a strip to warm up the skin to open the pores, then the pore strip to pull out the blackheads and a strip to tighten the pores.
Demeter Cushion Perfume (Clean Soap). A few years ago, my sister got me a perfume from Demeter before in a scent that I really liked – Earl Grey and it literally smelt like tea! Demeter makes all sorts of scents including leather, cotton candy, watermelon, etc. This is the first time I’ve tried a cushion perfume which applies just like a cushion foundation but the product you get is perfume! Such cute packaging and would be nice to press on perfume in discreen areas instead of spraying it.
Milky Dress White Virgin Powder. Initially, I thought this would be just a powder to mix in with your moisturiser/serum, but it’s actually a very interesting product! Comes in this tiny little bottle, the dropper dispenses the measured amount of powder onto the skin and you simply massage the powder in. Once the powder comes into contact with my fingers, it magically melts like a cream and no powdery residue at all.
