Where I got it: I ordered this directly from the Tarte website. It took less than 2 weeks to be delivered to New Zealand. This palette is NZD$79. I got free shipping because my total order was over a certain amount. I also used Ebates to gain some cash back for my overall spend.
What I got: This is the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Volume II Lighting Palette. Highlighting & strobing palette with four new shades to illuminate all skin tones. Includes four shades:
- daylight (white gold)
- skylight (pearl)
- spotlight (champagne)
- candlelight (rose gold)
How I find it: The palette comes with a large mirror as big as the case itself and 4 highlighter shades (5g of product each). All 4 fours are really beautiful with micro shimmer. They are very finely milled and very smooth to the touch from a finger swatch. Very minimal dust kick-up and not chalky at all. The shades are really pigmented so you only need to roll your brush through the shade/shades lightly, tap off any excess and sweep it across where you need it. I find that I really love using Daylight and Skylight as a highlight. Spotlight and Candlelight are great for night makeup or as a very light overall skin-finish. From the photos shown below, Candlelight looks awfully dark and not rose-gold-like, but in real life, they are quite pretty. However, I would use those sparingly and probably as an overall bronzing glow instead of a highlighter on my cheekbones. Regardless, all of these shades and the formula are also amazing as eyeshadows or inner corner highlights. I just love them so much!
Overall: Love the packaging, love the formula and love the shades. Daylight and Skylight do look very much similar on the finger swatch above, but in real-life they have different micro-shimmers. This palette is great to add to a collection and all the shades are so easy to wear. You can easily build up the intensity by applying more layers, but use a light hand because they are quite pigmented and long-lasting. I do have a Sleek makeup highlighter palette with similar shades, but they come in a cream and powder formula instead of this all-powder formula.
