Clarins Multi Active Skincare

Where I got it: I was invited to the Clarins Multi-Active launch party few weeks ago and we were all given a bag full of Clarins products including the full Multi-Active range (thank you!). The new Clarins Multi-Active range will be on counter from 8th August 2016.

What I got: I have all 3 versions of the Clarins Multi Active Jour creams (day cream) including the Fluid with SPF and also all 2 versions of the Clarins Multi Active Nuit cream (night cream).  Clarins has reformulated the range to specifically target people around their 30s where we are constantly under stress and lack of sleep.

Clarins MultiActive Skincare

How I find it:

Multi-Active Nuit (RRP$87 for 50ml). Clarins Multi-Active Night Cream is a moisturiser formulated for busy, active women in their 30s to help visibly reduce the look of fine lines, boost radiance and promote youthful-looking skin for longer. The formula features technology that targets the first signs of ageing. Capsules of teasel extract, a powerful antioxidant and revitalising plant ingredient, target the key type of cell responsible for youthful skin, the fibroblast. It helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of a stressful lifestyle. Organic California poppy helps compensate for the harmful effects of late nights and interrupted sleep. The skin is more rested and appears more smooth and toned upon waking. Available in Normal to Combination Skin and Normal to Dry Skin.

It is the time of the year and probably the time of my age that my combination/oily skin is turning into more of a combination/normal skin. With the wintery cold and low humidity in the air, my skin can get rather dry during the night and normal during a cold day. I have combination oil skin so I focused on using the one for Normal to Combination skin and I really love it. It provides enough moisture for my skin without making my skin feel greasy or sticky. The gentle calming scent is really pleasant to use. I have been using this every night for at least a month now and I love how my skin looks and feel so far. It feels smooth and supple.

Clarins Multi-Active Nuit

Multi-Active Jour (RRP$79 for 50ml). Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream is a moisturiser formulated for busy, active women in their 30s to help visibly reduce the look of fine lines, boost radiance and promote youthful-looking skin for longer. Myrothamnus helps absorb the effects of daily stress, so fine lines appear visibly more smooth and skin appears more toned. Its velvety texture is enriched with pigments to enhance the radiance of skin. It features a subtle fruity-floral fragrance with notes of cherry and white lily. Available in All Skin Types, Normal to Combination Skin and Dry Skin.

Clarins Multi-Active Jour

While having combination/oil and sometimes combination/normal skin, my skin tends to work better with hydration so that my skin does not over-produce sebum. Therefore I have been going for something a little bit more substantial than a gel-type day moisturiser (watery-gel types simply is not giving my skin the moisturisation it needs and it won’t be long until my skin feels tight and dry). I apply this with my fingertips after any serums or facial oils every morning. I use a small dot on my forehead, nose, both cheeks, chin and a dab on my neck as well. Then I gently massage the cream into my skin. I really breathe the scent in because I find it sooooo nice and relaxing with that smell of flowers! I love the creme-gel formular for Normal and Combination skin as it feels really light to the touch, but moisturises really well. The cream for All Skin Types and or Dry Skin are also very comfortable to use when I feel extra dry in the morning. The formulas are not sticky or thick or greasy at all. Very pleasant to use and have been using this for at least a month now.

Clarins Multi-Active Jour

Multi-Active Jour Fluid (RRP$79 for 50ml). Clarins Multi-Active Day Lotion SPF 15 for All Skin Types is a moisturiser formulated for busy, active women in their 30s to help visibly reduce the look of fine lines, boost radiance and promote youthful-looking skin for longer. Myrothamnus helps absorb the effects of daily stress, so fine lines appear visibly more smooth and skin appears more toned. Its velvety texture is enriched with pigments to enhance the radiance of the skin. It features a subtle fruity-floral fragrance with notes of cherry and white lily.

Clarins Multi-Active Jour Fluid

I was half expecting this to my a lot more fluid in consistency but it is more like a milk texture. It comes in a much more convenient pump bottle with a cap so you can take it travelling with no issues. I love how this comes with SPF15 but it is not nearly enough protection for me so I always use a sunscreen (at least SPF 30 broad spectrum) over my moisturisers. This moisturising fluid is great for on-the-go moisturising and a much more hygeinic packaging if you are looking for something like that. 1-2 pump is enough for the entire face and neck area, but I don’t really see much of a difference between the fluid and the creams. I guess it is one for option in regards to texture and packaging.

Clarins Multi-Active Jour Fluid

Overall: The packaging is just lovely! I love the colours Clarins has used. Although I have not used much of Clarins’ products because and I think it is partly because their packaing was not attractive enough and the brand has always given me the mature-skincare vibes. However, I have noticed that Clarins has really up their game in the marketing, packaging and technology around their products to target a more younger age range (well, I’m in my 30s, so I’m not young anyway), and not to mention more attractive packaging! The frosted pastel pink and the midnight blue glass jars are really pretty and very easy to see which cream for dayand which one for night. However, the down side of a jar packaging is probably hygiene and stability of the ingredients where it is exposed to the air at least once a day. I try to use a spatula to get the product, but sometimes I just get lazy and use my fingers. That’s why, I would prefer the pump bottle for the fluid moisturiser more.

Clarins has also got the scent of these Multi-Active creams on point – the fruity-floral scent of their day creams kicks starts my day feeling positive and beautiful. The calming scent of the night creams sets me in the right mood for relaxation after a long day. It is quite hard for any brands to grasp the art of scents – each person has different preferences and some people even have sensitive skin that cannot tolerate fragrances. Luckily, I love all the scents from this range and have no sensitivity issues.

Results of daily and nightly use of the Multi-Active range is really really good. Having used this for over a month, I noticed that my skin feels smoother, looks more supple and radiant. My skin feels less dehydrated and oily, now it feels balanced and comfortable.
