Where I got it: Farmers was doing a Beauty Week a few weeks ago and the YSL counter had a marketing campagne for their new Fusion Ink Foundation that is coming out in late April 2015. The campagne was that you can go in for a colour match and you can take home a 7-day supply of the foundation in your shade

What I got: This is YSL’s latest foundation called Fusion Ink (#yslfusionink). It comes in 21 shades (my colour match was B50 Honey). Feels like a feather, wears like an ink, no more compromise.  24 hours of soft-matte perfection and comfort. Our exclusive fine-as-ink formula perfects the skin yet wears weightlessly all day. Never cakey or heavy. Feel the difference of all day perfection and freedom. SPF 18.

How I find it: I have used this with and without a primer (silicon based) and I am happy to know that the silicon based primers does not affect the foundation as in it doesn’t create patches. The fluid consistency means that it is very lightweight and needs to be work into the skin fast. I tried to use the applicator to dot onto my entire face, then blend it out with my fingertips, but I prefer to dot onto the areas, then blend, then move onto the next area instead. The shade is a little on the darker side, but it looks really natural on my skin. It blends into the skin flawlessly and so lightweight. Dries down to a semi-matte, natural finish.

Overall: The color-match was good, but not the best. With the sheer coverage, it didn’t make much of a difference. It blends into the skin fast and seamlessly, but you have to act quick. I think this is more suitable for people with oily or combination/oily skin as it can be a bit drying and not moisturising. I tried to apply this without a moisturiser one day and my face felt really dry. If you are looking for a matte, natural finish with sheer coverage, this is a good foundation. However, if you have dry skin and you need moisture, hydration and medium to full coverage, this is probably not the right foundation for you. Even though you can build up to a second layer to create a more medium coverage, it doesn’t really do much of a good job of concealing acne spots or scars. Slightly fragranced but I’m not bothered by it! L’Oreal already has a similar foundation but so much more affordable, so maybe you can try that one out first?
