Clinicians Hi-Dose Vit C

Where I got it: I was sent this for consideration. You could purchase Clinicians products from major pharmacies and health food stores like Health 2000.  Also available in 150g and 300g.

What I got: This is a 75g bottle of Clinicians Hi-Dose Vit C in powder form. The bottle comes with a dual ended spoon. Clinicians Hi-Dose Vit C has been designed to support the body’s defenses against winter ills and chills. A specialised research-based buffered formulation containing 2 forms of vitamin C, (sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid) that may support and enhance immune function during times of stress.  Studies indicate that frequent high dosing with vitamin C can significantly shorten the recovery period following immune stress. Vitamin C may be depleted from the body during immune, physical and emotional stress, so more needs to be consumed at these times. Vitamin C is also required for hormone and neurotransmitter production. Vitamin C is an antioxidant vitamin that protects our cells from free radical damage.

How I find it: Recommended dosage for an adult: Day 1-3: 1 level teaspoon in water or juice every 2-3 hours. Day 4-7: 2 level teaspoon 2-3 times daily. After Day 7: reduce to 1 level teaspoon 1-2 times daily. This is recommended for short term adult use only and you need to monitor dosage in accordance with bowel tolerances as it may cause bowel looseness. CAUTION: Do not take high doses of Vitamin C if you have gastric ulcer or ulcerative colitis. I like to mix it with just plain water and drink it right away. It doesn’t taste sweet like usual vitamin C tablets do. It is a bright yellow powder that melts in even cold water with just a bit of stirring.

Overall: It was a little difficult to keep up with the first 4 days of every 2-3 hours. After that my bottle was pretty much used up. I like how it doesn’t taste sweet but a little sour and citrus like. I didn’t have any bowel looseness or any acidic attacks , nor did I felt any different. I guess for these supplements to work, you need to be taking them continuously for a good length of time to see results. I certainly hope it helped with my immunity!
