StyleKorean New Year Luck Box

StyleKorean New Year Luck Box

Where I got it

StyleKorean frequently curates boxes of skincare products at incredible prices. This year they’ve taken it a step further and included plane tickets to Korea for two lucky winners!

When I first saw their Instagram post, I was impressed by the product lineup. It boasted bestsellers and viral favourites! This special box contains 13 skincare products plus a charming little lucky pouch (bokjumeoni) featuring a charm (norigae) and a lucky card (bujeok). All this for just USD$79, a fantastic value for $395!

While I thought this was such a bargain, some consumers were not so happy with the increased pricing. Usually SK boxes are at the $39 mark for around 6-7 products. However, I believe some people do have to pay tax and extra fees to ship to certain countries, it does add up to almost $100 for the box.

What I got

The StyleKorean New Year Luck Box contains 13 full-sized skincare products including sheet masks, serums, eye patches, toner pads moisturisers and SPF. It’s sold out now but I’ll give you a quick look inside and share my thoughts on some of the items I’ve tried.

Medicube Kojic Acid Turmeric Night Wrapping Mask (75ml, USD$36). This mask targets dark spots with Kojic Acid and Vitamin C. It contains retinol and collagen to improve elasticity and hydration. It is a peel-off wrapping mask to boost overnight absorption.

I’ve tried their Collagen Night Wrapping Mask before and really enjoyed it. It has a gel texture that applies easily in a thin layer and adheres well to my skin. It generally stays on overnight but some areas do rub off. For better adhesion, apply a slightly thicker layer and let it dry completely before bed. I’m excited to try this brightening version.

Dr.Reju-All Advanced PDRN Rejuvenating Cream (20ml USD$45). Doctor-developed K-beauty with balanced PDRN. 99% pure salmon PDRN helps calm redness. Lightweight gel absorbs for fresh hydration.  I’ve been using this product for a while now. I’ve used up a tube in their old packaging and have a backup in both their old and new packaging. I’m adding it to my skincare stash! This gel-cream is incredibly hydrating, calming and soothing. I usually use it as a moisturiser or a serum, depending on whether I’m wearing a barrier cream or balm. It contains 99% pure salmon PDRN at 1,200ppm, the optimal concentration for effective absorption. If you haven’t tried it yet, you won’t be disappointed.

KAHI Wrinkle Bounce Multi Balm (USD$42). Wrinkle improved with only one time use. All-in-one multi balm that can be used for lips, eyes, neck. Long-lasting hydration and glow, ideal for daily care.  I’ve never tried anything from this brand but I’ve seen this product on social media so I’m happy to finally give it a go. At $42, I thought it was a bit pricey for what it is. I wouldn’t have bought it at full price without this box. It looks like a multi-use oil balm for on-the-go use. You can use it to dry your area, lips or anywhere else on your body.

Mediheal Madecassoside Blemish Pads (100 pads USD$29.90). Helps improve uneven tone, blemishes, and dark spots. Boosts skin hydration and helps reduce moisture loss. Madecassoside gauze pads gently soothe sensitive areas. This is actually a toner pad I’ve been eyeing for a while but haven’t added to my shopping cart yet. The last Mediheal toner pad I used, the retinol one, was a bit of a letdown. It promised more than it delivered and the texture of the pads wasn’t my favourite. However, this one’s specifically for blemishes and the pad texture varies depending on the ingredients. I also really like the packaging. The flip-open lid is easy to open and access. Plus, you can buy refill packs to reduce waste.

Celimax The VITA-A Retinol Shot Tightening Serum (30ml USD$24). High-performance care with 0.1% of pure retinol. Smooths wrinkles and refines pores. Deep-absorbing retinal for firmer skin.  Another product I already use is the Retinal Shot Tightening Booster, the more famous sibling to this serum. While it’s equally effective, this one is gentler on the skin. With 0.1% retinol, it’s a milder option than the retinal. It also contains peptides that help improve firmness and elasticity. The serum has a thinner texture that spreads easily and can be applied all over the face. In contrast, the booster has a creamy texture and is formulated for use sparingly or as a spot treatment. If you’re new to retinol or prefer something milder, this is a great option.

Centellian24 Madeca Cream Time Reverse (50ml USD$32). Calms sensitive skin with lasting moisture. TECA and EGF help nourish skin overnight. Comfortable textures absorbs easily for effortless daily care. Another one that I’ve been using and thoroughly enjoying this Madeca cream. It’s my go-to nighttime moisturiser. The soft, creamy texture makes it easy to spread and it leaves my skin hydrated, moisturised and soothed. Centellian24 also created a lighter version called Zero, but I find this one just right for my liking. I’ll probably skip the Zero version. However, they do have a PDRN version I’m really keen to try.

Numbuzin No.9 NAD PDRN Glow Boosting Toner (150ml USD$22). Instant glow and lightweight hydration. Helps skin look firmer and smoother. Refines texture for a fresh dewy look.  After watching James Welsh’s review of this boosting toner, I was seriously intrigued. It combines innovative ingredients like PDRN and NAD+ with peptides. While I’m not sure what NAD+ does or how well it’s studied, I’ve noticed my skin benefits from PDRN and peptides, so I’m hopeful. James also mentioned the toner’s hydrating properties and the subtle shimmery glow it leaves, which isn’t sparkly or glittery. The NAD+ PDRN glow range includes a serum and a lifting mask.

Jumiso Niacindamide 20 Serum (40ml USD$24). Brightens uneven tone with 20% niacinamide & glutathione. Calms redness and supports clear skin. Soothes and protects with Triple Centella Complex. I recently bought this bottle after hearing rave reviews. I’ve used niacinamide serum before but stopped using it for a while as many skincare products now include it as a key ingredient. The “20” indicates the percentage concentration and 20% is actually a potent treatment designed for specific, stubborn skin concerns. Beyond brightening, niacinamide strengthens the skin barrier minimises pores, smoothens texture and helps control sebum.

Jumiso Niacindamide 20 Serum

COSRX The Peptide Collagen Hydrogel Eye Patch (USD$23). Peptides and collagen for firm, smooth skin. Contains niacinamide and hyaluronix acid for bright hydration. Embossed hydrogel texture for absorption and non-slip fit. Frankly, I don’t have any particular interest in eye patches but I can’t quite pinpoint why. It’s either that I can’t find a good time to use them or I doubt they’d be effective. I’ll give these a try for about two weeks to see if I notice any benefits. Do you all use an eye mask or patch?

Zeroid Soothing Cream (80ml $21.40). Gently calms sensitive and irritated skin. Helps strengthen the skin barrier and reduce redness. Lightweight, fast-absorbing moisture without stickiness.  I recently received a sample of this cream but haven’t tried it yet. While I don’t have dry or sensitive skin, I love a barrier cream that’s not too thick or greasy. The description sounds like something I’d enjoy.

Zeroid Soothing Cream

SeohaeSol Chi-Ki-Da Mask pack (5ea USD$39). Hydrates and soothes with hyaluronic acid, panthenol, and centella. Helps improve firmness, fine lines, and uneven tone. Gentle 5-sheet mask set suitable for sensitive skin. This one’s interesting. I saw it on Instagram and it’s one of those masks that sticks really well to the face. You can pull it upwards to create a lifting effect. I was so intrigued I ripped into it right away.

SeohaeSol Chi-Ki-Da Mask pack

This isn’t a hydrogel mask or a dripping serum cloth mask. It’s a three-piece product with backing sheets on both sides: one white plastic and the other clear. Between them is a mesh material with a gel-like, sticky surface that feels almost like silicone.

After cleansing and toning with an oil-free toner, I ensure my skin is dry and free of greasy residue. Then I begin with the top piece. I remove the white backing sheet and place it on my forehead, followed by the clear plastic sheet. Next, I move on to the middle piece, the large one. Unlike standard sheet masks, it doesn’t cover the nose. There’s a small opening to the mouth that widens when stretched. To properly adhere the middle piece, I remove both backing sheets. I press the cheeks down and then pull the flaps upwards, sticking them to the sides of my face. Finally, I use the last piece for the neck area. These stick well to the skin if it’s oil-free and dry.

After about 30 minutes, the mask doesn’t dry down, sag or slide. It stays lifted! I’m impressed. Removing it, my skin feels surprisingly smooth and lifted. It’s not a full facelift, but it’s hydrated without any residue. This is different from anything I’ve tried recently. I really enjoy it and could use it before a special event for that temporary lifted, snatched feeling. There’s no excess residue that needs wiping or patting down. I’m really impressed and I’ll try another sheet soon, keeping an eye on it to see if it makes a difference.

Elroel Pang Pang Sun Cushion Plus 15g (USD$28.80). SPF50+ PA++++ for reliable UVA/UVB protection. Large cushion for quick application with a fresh finish. Vitamin tree water to soothe and refresh skin. I recently reviewed the ELROEL viral colour-changing foundation stick. It transitions from white to the chosen foundation shade. This will be my second product from Elroel. I’ve been wanting to try a sun cushion for daytime SPF touch-ups. I’ve previously used SPF in a balm, not a cushion, so I’m curious about this format. As per K-beauty SPF standards, it offers SPF50 PA++++, providing high protection and broad-spectrum coverage including UVA protection. I’ll be watching out for any white cast!

Elroel Pang Pang Sun Cushion Plus

Dr.Althea Aqua Glowing Sunscreen (45ml USD$19.90). SPF50+ PA++++ protects skin while keeping it calm. Bamboo water, panthenol help hydrate and support healthy-looking skin. Lightweight, non-sticky cream absorbs smoothly.  A k-beauty skincare box isn’t complete without at least one sunscreen, ideally a glowing one. Dr.Althea’s sunscreen has been particularly popular online. It boasts a generous amount of skincare ingredients and offers standard SPF50 and PA++++ protection. Dr.Althea is known for their 345 Relief cream and recently their Reju 5000 PDRN cream, both of which have garnered a lot of positive reviews. Given their track record, their new sunscreen products are sure to impress. This one is aqua-glowing and provides internal hydration, making it suitable for dry skin to all skin types. The fresh green tea gives it a soothing, non-greasy texture, ideal for oily to all skin types.

Overall

For just $79, I genuinely believe this is excellent value for money and the products will last a long time. However, some people are complaining about the price, which is significantly higher than previous boxes. Including tax, it could easily cost up to USD$100 for some. While this box is indeed more expensive than previous StyleKorean boxes, it offers more products and includes popular items like the Dr. Reju-All rejuvenation cream and the Centallian24 Madeca Cream. These products are also quite valuable.

If you’re not particularly interested in more than three or four products in this box, you might want to skip it. However, I’m already a fan of the Dr. Reju-All and Madeca creams and will likely need to repurchase them soon. I’ve also been wanting to try the lifting mask, sun cushion and Numbuzin toner. That makes five products, so I find this a fantastic deal.
