House of Hur 2nd Anniversary Birthday Box

Where I got it

I saw the latest post on the House of Hur Instagram account to know that they were celebrating their 2nd birthday by launching a Birthday Box filled with their amazing products – skincare and makeup. The contents in this box is valued at USD$174, but you can purchase this for USD$50. I ordered this on Tuesday and I am surprised to receive the package by Friday! It was shipped from Korea using express shipping ($15) to New Zealand. Very impressed.

I got this box sometime in August/September, and now it is the end of October. I have been very busy with work, life and just generally everything around me. What I got

This is the House of Hur Birthday Box for their 2nd anniversary. This box is curated to celebrate House of Hur being 2 years old. It comes with 9 full-sized products: two of their cleansing balms, two of their essence pads, two of their latest sunscreens, two of their ampoule blushers and a blush stick. I personally already have 5-6 of their ampoule blushes which I absolutely love already, and I also have one of their cleansing balms as well as a couple of their lip products that are not in this box. All of their products have been amazing and I thoroughly enjoy them. I have been eyeing the Tropical Dew Sun Cream, and I am so glad they launch this box! Let’s see a brief description of each product.

Tropical Dew Sun Cream SPF50 PA++++ (50ml). Tropical Dew Sun Cream features an ultra-light, silky formula that glides on effortlessly, leaving your skin dewy and hydrated. Infused with extracts from seven tropical fruits, it offers essential protection while enhancing your skin’s natural radiance.

Weightless Sunfluid SPF50 PA++++ (50ml). Weightless Sun Fluid is a creamy yet refreshing sunscreen. It contains a high concentration of Jeju yuja extract and pure New Zealand honey extract, providing effective benefits without burdening the skin. Prolonged exposure to UV light can harm the skin, leading to wrinkles and fine lines and giving an aged appearance. Even minor sun exposure can accumulate and cause substantial damage over time. Therefore, using sunscreen daily is essential to protect your skin’s health and maintain its youthful look.

Midnight Soothing Cleansing Balm (50ml). House of Hur’s Midnight Soothing Cleansing Balm gently removes makeup and impurities while providing skincare benefits. With its innovative multi-texture formula, it transforms from a sherbet-like texture into a silky oil to dissolve makeup and impurities, leaving skin clean, hydrated, and refreshed. Perfect for sensitive skin, it balances the complexion without any tightness or greasy residue. Enriched with nourishing ingredients like Black Rice Extract, Mexican Chia Seed Extract, and Chestnut Shell Extract, this balm calms, hydrates, and improves skin elasticity. Brightening Skin Prep Essence Pad (70 pads). When the skin is exposed to ultraviolet rays, it can lead to the darkening of melanin pigments, causing blemishes and uneven skin tone. At such times, it is essential to care for your skin’s surface and deeper layers. The Brightening Pad, which contains Alpha-Arbutin, helps remove skin surface impurities and promotes the skin’s turnover cycle, aiding in the removal of blemishes and spots. Since UV rays do not significantly affect it, it can be conveniently used both in the morning and evening.

Clearing Skin Prep Essence Pad (70 pads). Skin impurities and clogged pores caused by various environmental factors such as ultraviolet rays, temperature changes, and fine dust, are not easily removed by ordinary cleansing. To address various skin concerns like blackheads caused by these impurities blocking the pores, it is necessary to start skincare on a clean skin base by using an essence pad to thoroughly remove makeup residue and impurities covering the skin. Our Clearing Skin Prep Essence Pad, which contains AHA, BHA, PHA+ & red beet extract, gently takes care of these impurities without irritation, prevents the formation of pores, and helps manage a clear skin texture by preventing skin blemishes and other troubles.

Its smooth texture makes applying makeup a breeze, allowing you to express your personality through its distinct hues. This product helps highlight your natural charm while also allowing for vibrant skin expression at the same time.Enriched with 50% moisture essence, it provides long-lasting, hydrating, and lightweight adherence to the skin without that sticky feeling.

Every Cheek Blush (Playful Rosie) (6.5g). House of Hur’s Every Cheek Blusher is your go-to for effortless, natural-looking radiance anytime, anywhere. This pocket-sized cream stick blush melts into the skin with a butter-smooth texture, delivering a seamless and long-lasting flush that won’t streak or dry out. Its velvet-satin finish enhances your skin’s natural glow, giving a fresh, dewy look in just a few taps. Infused with antioxidant-rich fruit extracts, it hydrates and soothes while adding vibrant color to your cheeks. Designed in a convenient, on-the-go format, it’s the perfect blush for clean, cute, and confident makeup looks.

How I find it

This is my first time trying skincare from House of Hur as I have been loving their Moist Ampoule Blushers for a while now. But I have been interested in their cleansing balms and newly launched sunscreens, so I am so excited to get to try it in this box.

First off, let’s have a look at the cleansing balms – Purifying Cleansing Balm and the Midnight Soothing Cleansing Balm. Both of these cleansing balms come in a grinding style container. Simply rotate the container to dispense a decent amount of cleansing balm, then you scoop out the cleansing balm with dry fingers. After using it a few times, I find that a good 360° rotation will provide sufficient product for one application. I did find that scooping the product out from the container after grinding is a little awkward. There would be left-over cleansing balm on the top. Even though you do have a lid to cover the top, I still just wipe it with tissue after use.

Anyway, back to the cleansing balm. The Purifying one (pink packaging) is really smooth and soft. It melts my makeup effortlessly and hardly need any pressure for the balm to melt. The Midnight Soothing one…

Next are the Skin Prep Essence Pads. A brightening one and a clearing one to targe different skin concerns. These pads are soaked in essence which you use after cleansing. Just swipe on your skin and continue with the rest of your skincare routine. I would say the pads are not particularly hydrating, but it does contain alpha-arbutin for the brightening version to even skin tone, brighten dull skin, etc. The clearing version contains PHA, AHA, BHA and red beet extract to gently exfoliate dead skn cells. I would prefer if the pads are slightly larger and thicker so it contains more essence in each pad.

Next we have their latest SPF launch – the Tropical Dew Sun Cream and Weightless Sun Fluid, both SPF50 PA++++. The bright-coloured tubes are actually very eye-catching, but it looks a little off-brand for some reason. Anyway, the two SPF product have different textures. The Tropical Dew is a sun cream, so you can expect a slightly thicker consistency, more suitable if you want a moisturising product with a creamy texture. The Weightless is a sun fluid, so you can expect a much more fluid consistency, more suitable if you want that weightless feeling on the skin with amazing spread. Both SPF blends out beautifully on the skin, and Tropical Dew does give a hint of tone-up effect, just very slightly and not a white cast. It appears to slightly correct and even out skin tone. Weightless feels smooth after application without any greasy or sticky residue which is great for oily and combination skin, or if you hate SPF with a film on top. Both area great products and I would love to start using them once I’m finished with my current SPF.

Now that concludes the skincare procuts in this box, let’s move onto the makeup. My favourite makeup from House of Hur to be exact. The Moist Ampoule Blushes are my first product from this brand. The liquid blush comes in these cute frosted glass bottles with a pump dispenser. My original purchase were sheer shades that looks ethereal and delicate. That barely there blush-look might not everyone’s preference, but if you want to be able to build up your blush and look very natural and dewy, these blushes are for you. The formula is very hydrating and dewy on the skin – like their name suggests, like an ampoule. In this box we have shades Rose Brown and Cherry Blossom. I personally already have Cherry Blossom, but not Rose Brown.

Cherry Blossom is a lighter soft pink shade, just like cherry blossom petals. I love this shade because it is a sheer soft pink that doesn’t make you look like you applied children’s makeup, it melts into the skin and gives you this youthful pinky cheeks that is natural, and healthy looking. If you have lighter skin tones, this would show up more than deeper skin tones. Rose Brown is a very wearable shade for all ages and multiple skin tones. This one is slightly more saturated but it is still sheer and buildable. The rosy shade with a hint of brown is quite neutral and gives you a natural-looking blush. The blushes leaves a dewy finish on the skin, but can wear off during the day so I wouldn’t say these are very long-lasting.
