Jimmy Choo Bing 65 patent leather mules

My Theresa box

Where I got it

I ordered these on MyTheresa.com, where I have purchased most of my luxury items for the past few years. I actually check with a number of different online retailers like LUISAVIAROMA, Farfetch, Net-a-porter, SSsense, etc. MyTheresa does have a good range of products and their prices are actually quite reasonable. They do have sales, but I don’t check the website often enough to take note of when sales come through and whether these styles go into sale often. I do follow ChaseAime’s blog and her YouTube channel for sale notifications as she is amazing at keeping up with sales, etc.

These are not new season styles and they are a permanent colour. Therefore I would say they do go on sale if you wait, or sometimes discount codes would work on them as well. You just have to go hunt them down and wait for the best price. Personally, I am quite impatient and I purchase when the feeling is right. That’s not to say I have an unlimited budget, but I did limit myself to around the $1.2k mark. Let’s talk more about this.

Being in New Zealand, shopping on the Mytheresa website, the currency is automatically set to Euros. I also checked the prices of this pair of heels in other currencies: AUD$1,410 (approx. NZD$1,510), £795 (approx. NZD$1,533) and USD$995 (approx. NZD$1,593). All other online retailers were paying in USD or Pounds so the exchange rate made it more expensive. So if you are able to choose which currency to pay for, check the exchange rate to see if you can get it cheaper. These are from MyTheresa.com for € 715.00 and shipping was € 20. Which came to NZD$1,264 (excluding customs tax). I ordered this on a Tuesday, (26/7) and I received an email for dispatch on Friday (29/7). Eventually, I had to pay duty/customs tax of about $417 for the release of my parcel. Therefore the total price I paid for this pair of heels is around $1,681. I finally get my hands on these beautiful feels on the 10th of August.

***After sharing my unboxing on IG, a couple of my followers told me there is a Jimmy Choo shop in Westfield New Market and they also have JC in David Jones in Westfield New Market as well. They also do amazing Black Friday sales! But I need these shoes in September and I know that I will never be able to be first in line for sales for a pair of popular heels and get it in the size and colour I want. So I am not feeling too gutted, also bearing in mind, I don’t even know how much it is to get it New Zealand. But I do intend to check out the retail price of these in the JC shop one day *fingers crossed*

What I got

These are the Jimmy Choo Bing 65 mules in patent leather. The colour I went for is ballet pink in size 36.5, and the dress for my sister’s wedding is a sage green colour so I thought this would look great with the dress and also as a pair of shoes I can easily wear after the wedding. The Bing mules come in 65mm and 100mm (heel height), and I know that I don’t be able to wear anything over 80mm for more than an hour. They also come in different materials, but I’m not going to talk about that now.

I have been looking into Jimmy Choo heels for a little while now, but I have not been able to justify an expensive pair of shoes for my day-to-day life. However, it is my sister’s wedding in September and I finally have an excuse to splurge on a nice pair of heels. I have seen Jimmy Choo Bing mules a lot online, but have yet to see these in real life. Most reviews of these are great and the overall comfort rating for Jimmy Choo heels have been very good.

These dusty-pink Bing mules from Jimmy Choo are a versatile addition to your everyday wardrobe. Crafted in Italy from patent leather, they’re cut to a point-toe silhouette with crystal-embellished straps, then set on 6.5cm kitten heels. Style your denim for a laid-back take.

Packaging

As per usual MyTheresa packaging, you get this bright yellow box that is super sturdy and collapsible for storage. Since this is a pair of shoes, you do get a large box. Inside, you get the grey Jimmy Choo shoe box with a black ribbon (typical of MyTheresa) and inside you get a little care booklet and a single dust bag for the shoes which I thought was quite weird. The shoes are packed and protected with tissue paper and actual tissues so that the crystals don’t scratch the patent leather, etc. The soles are in perfect condition with the size, Jimmy Choo logo and the material sticker thing at the bottom. I later got sole protecting stickers to protect the sole of the shoes and provide some grip.

Sizing and fit

These are my first pair of Jimmy Choos so I don’t have much to compare with. But the mules are good because they certainly won’t scratch the back of my heels, but you also get that almost-coming-off feeling when you walk. The embellished strap across the front definitely helps with stopping the shoes coming off, but you won’t be able to walk fast in these. I do have slightly thicker feet so I was actually quite surprised at how much space I have between my feet and the strap, like I don’t feel squashed. I also have slightly wider feet and I’m used to wearing ballet flats, trainers. These mules are true to size and are super comfortable for wider feet as there is plenty of room on either side. I also think the toe box area is very well designed so it does show a bit of toe clevage which isquite sexy. I just need to make sure my heels are not dry and cracking!

Pairing

I have seen people pair these mules with jeans and a blouse for a more smart casual look, or with a silk dress for a more dressy look. This pair of shoes can elevate an outfit and make it look polished and chic. The beige colour is also very versatile for many different colours pants or dresses I wear as it looks very skin-like. The height of these means that I would wear these to girl’s dinners where it might involve a bit of walking, or a date night with my husband. I would not wear hoisery with these mules because that would make it super slippery.

I wore these to my sister’s wedding where we were not official bridesmaids because she did not plan to have any, but we (3 of us sisters) did wear satin dresses that matches her bouquet colour theme. My dress was a midi-length satin wrap dress in a pale sage green colour, so these heels really complemented the look whilst adding some sparkle to my outfit.

Comfort, wear and tear

I wore these mules for the first time for my little sister’s wedding and her wedding was at a rural estate, so there were some gravel grounds and cobblestones. I wore this for about 6 hours and most of the time I was standing or walking. I also looked after my boys whilst wearing these so I was walking around quite a lot, and I was also stepped on a couple of times. I was really surprised that these mules did not try to slip off my feet once! By the end of the day, the only thing I felt were just tiredness from standing and walking – no pain from the shoes, or the height of the heels whatsoever. I would highly recommend these for people who doesn’t wear heels a lot and have problems with swelling feet as you progress during the day. The fact that it is a mule, it just doesn’t squash your feet in a tight shoe.

Overall

I am so in love with these heels to the point that I have forgotten that I have to pay $400 for customs tax. These are the most expensive pair of shoes I own to date and I’m afraid I am slowly going down the rabbit hole. I do have good self-control with luxury shoes because I know I don’t have a lot of events or occassions to wear them to and I simply don’t have all the funds in the world. The sparkles of these crystals are just unbelievable and I think you can tell these are expensive shoes and not just knock-offs because the quality and the sparkle of the crystals are just out of this world. The comfort is amazing and looks great after wearing it for a wedding without really looking after them.

One negative thing I would say about these heels were the strap over the top with the crystals were a little loose, or should I say looks quite wide when you look at them from the front. My feet are on the wide side and slightly thick, but I still have a good gap between the top of my feet and the strap. However, there were very minmal sliding and the strap does keep my feet in.
