Dior Riviera Collection for Summer 2022

Dior Riviera Collection for Summer 2022

Where I got it

After seeing the preview of the Dior Riviera collection way back in February on social media, I knew that we will be getting these later than the rest of the world. Nonetheless, I was interested in these products, especially the highlighters and the new Lip Tints that are supposed to be replacing the Lip Tattoos. I started seeing the collection become available in early May on Dior.co.nz, but my Dior beauty SA said they won’t be getting it until late May or early June. The reason why I waited to order via my Dior beauty SA is that she offers the most amazing service as well as samples and goodies. I will show you what she has given me in a bit. I have included some photos of the new products at the Commercial Bay Dior beauty store at the end of this post.

Currently, most of the items are still available online with an exception of some popular shades that are sold out already. When my SA told me the new collection is in and she was able to reserve products for me, I was able to get everything I asked for except the highlighter in shade 002 Pink Riviera which apparently we are not getting any stock in the country.

So, let’s quickly go through the reason why I picked these products and shades up. First of all, these products aren’t exactly affordable so I made sure I spend money on items I will use and shades that I will use often. It was a choice between the $126 eyeshadow quint and the $106 highlighter, so I picked the highlighter. However they did not have 002 Pink Riviera in stock (in-store or online), so I went for 001 Nude Riviera. Then I skipped the LE Cushion Foundation altogether because I seldom use a cushion and I already have the LE New Look packaging from the previous collection.

I then decided to pick up the Lip Glow Oil in 031 Peach Glow, as I only have one currently and I would like another one. I also picked up 2 new Lip Tints – one in the colour 651 Natural Rose which was my first pick, and while I was there Tracy showed me 421 Natural Tea which is a hot shade and is almost sold out. In the end, I asked her about the Dior 8 lipstick and she told me that has been sold out in the Dior Addict formula, but the Lip Glow also has this colour and it is a more comfortable balm-like texture.

The samples I received were two little deluxe size perfume samples, a sample sachet of their new cleansing water and micellar water, a little birthday goodie which is a little faux leather card pouch with the Dior logo and two sample size of the Dior Rose Essence Perfume. She put all these in the Riviera pattern drawstring bag and placed it inside a matching box and sent me off with a limited edition shoppers bag also in the Riviera pattern. The entire shopping experience is just lovely and I just loved it.

What I got

So here are the items I picked up from the Riviera Collection – Couture Luminizer in 001 Nude Riviera and Lip Glow Oil in 031 Peach Glow, as well as the Eden-Roc EDP in the limited edition Riviera packaging. Then I also picked up two of the new Lip Tints in 421 Natural Tea and 651 Natural Rose. And the Dior Lip Glow in 108 Dior 8.

Couture Luminizer (LE shades 001 Nude Riviera and 002 Pink Riviera)($106 for 6g). “Dior Forever Couture Luminizer Dioriviera is the intense highlighting powder with a spectacular iridescent finish, long wear and sensational comfort. The natural glow of the complexion is revealed, heightened from every angle due to the high concentration of pearlescent pigments in the highlighter. Infused with wild pansy extract, the Dior highlighting powder preserves the skin’s natural hydration for a comfortable glow that lasts all day long. For the Dioriviera limited edition, two crystalline shades inspired by the last glimmers of gold as the sun sets on the water are adorned with the Dior bayadere motif. This multi-use highlighter is applied on the temples, cheeks and décolleté.” – Dior.co.nz

Lip Glow Oil (LE shades 030 Bronze Glow and 031 Peach Glow) ($64 for 6g). The Dior Addict Lip Glow lip balm is available as a glossy lip oil that deeply protects and enhances the lips, bringing out their natural colour. Genuine lip care infused with cherry oil, Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil instantly nourishes, protects, softens and revitalises the lips. This lip oil combines an intense lip care formula with a natural, flattering colour finish for an ultra-luminous result. Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil adapts to all lip colours to bring out their rosy glow. Its non-greasy, non-sticky oil texture pushes the boundaries of shine and creates a smoothing film that shapes the lips with an almost magnifying mirror-shine effect. Multi-use, Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil can be worn equally well on its own, as a primer under lipstick, or as a top coat for volumising shine.” – Dior.co.nz.

Addict Lip Tints (not LE, available in 10 shades) ($64 for 6ml). Dior Addict Lip Tint is the first no-transfer Dior lip tint with 12 hour* long-lasting wear, that highlights the lips with a bold colour in a semi-matte finish and fuses with the skin for a bare-lip sensation. Composed with 95%** natural-origin ingredients, Dior Addict Lip Tint is infused with Cherry Oil to hydrate for 24 hours*** and thereby the lips feel as comfortable as bare lips. Available in a palette of fresh and natural shades, such as beige, raspberry, vibrant coral or even intense plum, this Dior lip tint flatters all skin tones and beautifies them. Dior Lip Glow (not LE, new shade Dior 8) ($64 for 3.5g). “The 1st Dior lip balm formulated with 97% natural-origin ingredients** that subtly revives the natural colour of lips with a custom glow for 6h*** and hydrates lips for 24h.* A new couture case, a unique**** formula made with natural-origin ingredients infused with cherry oil, and shades to suit all skin tones: the essential Dior Addict Lip Glow lip balm has been reinvented with a sensorial texture for lips that are both beautified and hydrated. Eden-Roc EPD (Riviera packaging, also in Jasmine Des Anges and Balade Sauvage) ($200 for 40ml). “When Parisian chic takes up summer residence in the sun, a spirit of luxury and refinement pervades the Riviera. A Dior summer escape in couture colours that adorn a selection of La Collection Privée Christian Dior fragrances.” – Dior.co.nz. Eden-Roc is the expression of an irrefutably simple and natural beauty; that of a sea salt crystal placed on the tip of the tongue, of bronzed skin warmed by the sun, of the protective canopy offered by a pine tree in the south of France. The fragrance unfurls salty olfactory notes, like diving into the Mediterranean Sea.

Dior Riviera Eden-Roc EDP

“I composed Eden-Roc by imagining an arrival by sea. The salt, the sun, the light-colored rock, the lush plant life… Its trail is an olfactory image of this cape in an exceptional locale. The accords reveal themselves as the story of the Mediterranean: the smell of the sea, flowers and citrus fruit, aromatic scents and the image of pine trees in the south of France… The Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc is a landmark of luxury and fresh air, great refinement, as well as exquisite simplicity. A fragrance is alive when it is worn. Same goes for a place, when it is lived in. So long live the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc!” – François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator.

How I find it

With all of these products, I have live swatches on my Instagram and I also have comparison swatches of these shades against the shades I already own. So follow me on Instagram and enjoy the content!

Let’s go through the makeup products. The Couture Luminizer is the same formula as the existing highlighter that Dior has, but with a special embossing and “limited edition’ shade. 001 Nude Riviera is a beige-toned champagne highlighter that isn’t something very special, but it is very easy to wear and apply. I would say it would work on most skin tones except if you are very fair. The formula is really fine and not shimmery at all.

I tried comparing the swatches of the Couture Luminizer highlighters I already have. I have 02 Pink Glow, 03 Pearlescent and now I also have 001 Nude Riviera (apologies for the images that says 002, it should be 001). Pink Glow clearly has a pink under-tone which looks quite nice on fair skin. Pearlescent is an icy white highlighter which is not very much a natural-looking highlighter. The 001 Nude Riviera has a beige undertone which makes the powder really natural on my light-medium skin tone. They are not sparkly or full of shimmer, but it does leave a very nice sheen on the skin. Apply gently and build it up if I want to, but these also works great as an inner corner highlight.

The Lip Glow Oil is also not a new formula, but the new collection has 2 new shades. 031 Peach Glow is a translucent peach shade that is supposed to give high gloss and nourishment to the lips. The colour payoff is sheer and if you have pigmented lips, you probably cannot see it when applied. This would be great to add on top of another lip colour to give some shift to the base colour and a glossy finish. This formula isn’t my favourite from Dior and I am quite sure I won’t add more of this formula to my collection unless they release some really interesting colours.

The Addict Lip Tints are new formulas to replace the previous Lip Tattoos and will be in Dior’s permanent line-up. None of the shades currently are a limited collection, and if a particular shade is sold out, they will be restocked later so there is no need to rush. I loved the old Lip Tattoo formula, so I was a little sad and worried that the new formula will be different. The 2 shades I picked up were natural-looking with a hint of pink and a hint of milk tea. Most of the shades available are very flattering. Other picked would have been 651 Natural Rose and 771 Natural Berry. Shades I have from the previous formulation were 351 Natural Nude, 451 Natural Coral, 661 Natural Red and 621 Natural Almond.

Next, we have the Dior Lip Glow, which is an existing formulation, but this new shade Dior 8 is a new shade in at least 2 of their formulations including the new Dior Addict lipsticks. Dior 8 is a warm-toned brick red colour. “Red is a classic and pops, but if you don’t like intense colors, Dior 8 feels a bit more natural, because the brick blends into your natural tones,” he explains. “It’s a bit more effortless and contemporary than Dior 999.” The number holds significant meaning to the fashion house, as eight is Dior’s lucky number. ” – Peter Philips, the creative and image director for Dior Makeup.

Eden-Roc is a sensual, woody floral fragrance, a simultaneously vegetal and mineral composition, a fresh and luminous evocation of the pleasures of the French Riviera. Its sunny trail of white flowers, its marine notes and aromatic accords bring to mind the radiant beauty of this landmark cape on the Mediterranean. Eden-Roc is a fragrance that mixes the freshness of the sea with the warmth of the sun’s beating rays and the shade of pine trees.

Overall

I am pretty happy with this collection and I am glad that the Lip Tattoo is just reformulated and repackaged, instead of discontinued. The texture and performance of the Lip Tint is very similar to the original. It also has a slightly different applicator. Other products like the Lip Glow in Dior 8 is also very pretty. I love wearing it as a tinted lip balm with a sheer wash of colour. However, the Lip Glow Oil isn’t something that I would whip out most of the time. For a lip oil, I would either use it as a topper gloss, or just as a lip treatment oil that I wear at home. As for the Couture Luminizer in 001 Nude Riviera was a nice choice in colour. If you don’t already have a tonne of champagne-toned highlighters, you might want to give this a go. It is not super special, but it would looks nice on a lot of skin tones and the quality is really nice.

Finally, Eden-Roc EDP. I was a little unsure about this perfume previously because I usually go for light florals, white florals and moving towards citrus or something fresh. Eden-Roc was something fresh, but not floral. It’s something that I’m not used to but I actually very much enjoy as something else.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I just have heaps of photos and thoughts that I wanted to share. Hope you enjoyed this post! Have you picked up anything from this collection?
