Chanel L’Huile Anti-pollution Cleansing Oil

Where I got it

Now that Auckland is out of “lockdown”, retail shops are open and you can get into shops for shopping. The Chanel beauty boutique in Britomart is open once again and taking appointments. My SA Julia called me to let me know if I needed anything and they were doing a special promo, kind of for Black Friday, but it’s not official. There is a gift with purchase of a beautiful leather-look cosmetic pouch from the Chanel Parfums range if you purchase over NZD$500. We made an arrangement for Julia to give me a call for the week they are doing the promo to see what I want to get. I decided to get some skincare products as Chanel New Zealand will not be getting those Holiday sets with the red or black pouches. While I was on the phone with Julia, I told her that I won’t be spending over $500 today and I will be getting their cleansing oil and their hand cream. She then told me that she is able to offer me the free pouch if I spend over $250 because they would usually offer this to clients that has an appointment in the store or something like that. So she suggested if I choose something around $70 she will be able to give me the pouch. So I added another cleanser.

She packed it all up on Wednesday 24/11, and it arrived on Friday 26/11! It was so quick and so in time for an unboxing in the weekend! I have posted an unboxing on my IG (@kittiemui). Make sure you follow me there for more up-to-date content and unboxing reels, IGTVs, etc. I am very active on IG so see you there!

What I got

I ordered the Chanel L’Huile Anti-pollution Cleansing Oil ($79 for 150ml). The cleansing of skin is a daily discipline, powered by essential beauty steps. CHANEL adds colour to the cleansing by introducing a collection of simple and effective makeup removers and cleansers with new sensory richness. These universal creations are dedicated to all women and skin types, and offer the most exquisite makeup removal. L’HUILE effectively removes makeup – even longwearing and waterproof formulas – while preserving skin’s balance. In parallel, it frees skin of impurities and pollutants. On contact with water, the silky texture transforms into a soft lather for a pure moment of pleasure. In a delicate, voluptuous caress, skin is left supple, luminous and perfectly makeup-free.

How I find it

For most skincare products, I want to enjoy the whole experience – from shopping to packaging and from the texture to efficacy. I want to be able to enjoy every aspect of it. I love a pleasant scent and beautiful packaging, it makes me feel happy to use the product. I also look at ingredients list which this one has a sunflower seed oil base which is a great source of vitamin E and is commonly used in cleansing oils and it is very low in the comedogenic rating. It is a non-fragrant oil, an antioxidant and an emollient.

The cleansing oil comes in a translucent plastic bottle in a light golden yellow hue, a black cap and a pump.

With dry hands, I pump out 2-3 pumps of the cleansing oil and apply it to my skin. The oil is light and thin, not thick. It has a pleasant floral scent and it’s not a cheap, intoxicating floral scent. I was hoping it won’t be too thin that massaging the oil would cause it to ultimately disappear. However the texture of the oil stayed slippery and smooth, massaging was really enjoyable. This cleanser emulsifies and then rinses off clean and my skin feels comfortable, non-greasy and clean.

Overall

I am very happy with this cleansing oil and $79 for a Chanel cleansing oil isn’t that bad at all. I have bought more expensive cleansing oil/balm before! The texture of the oil is light, but luxurious and has sufficient slip. It rinses off easily and clean. A little goes a long way so this would last me quite a while. The scent is also very pleasant to use and is not intruding at all. I am definitely going to repurchase this when I run out, it is such a joy to use when I want to pamper myself.

However, I am pretty sure you are able to find something equally enjoyable to use and just as effective at a fraction of the cost. You definitely do not need to spend this amount for an effective oil cleanser. I always feel that I need to justify my spending on luxury items – whether fashion or beauty, but I also think that everyone wants to spend their hard-earned money where they want to and on what they feel happy as long as it does not hurt or harm anyone. Some people like to go travelling, some people prefer fine dining, some people spend it on luxury items! Anyway, I don’t really need to explain myself here, this is just a post on the review of this product, not myself.
