Burberry Giant check cashmere scarf

Where I got it

I have been wanting to purchase a cashmere scarf for the winter season and I have seen ChaseAmie on Youtube highly rate her Burberry scarf. She uses it to accessories a simple outfit and it is pretty much an entry-level luxury item. I ordered this on the MyTheresa app while they had their Daily Candy promo (as well as my Burberry Wool Cape) with 30% off. The cashmere scarf is €315 full-price, and after 30% discount comes down to €220 (NZD$387.16) with free shipping.

Burberry does a couple of different versions of their scarf – normal check pattern, mega check pattern (larger than Giant check), reversible pattern, silk and wool blend, different sizes, etc. I decided to go for the large check because I think it looked really chic and less busy. The Mega Check actually looks really nice too, but it was not part of the sale.

I ordered this on 7th May and I received an email that it is shipped from Germany. It arrived in New Zealand customs on Friday 14th May and got delivered on Tuesday 18th May.

What I got

This is the Burberry Giant check cashmere scarf. It is 100% cashmere, measuring 168cm x 30cm and 7cm fringe. Made in Scotland and the colour name is Archive Beige. “Burberry makes cold-weather wardrobing effortlessly by emblazoning pieces, such as this scarf, with its giant House Check. Made in the UK from “Archive” beige cashmere, the design offers a myriad of styling opportunities.”

How I find it

The scarf is so so soft and lightweight, I love the large check print, it is elegant, but you can still obviously see the signature Burberry check. It is very easy to match with something that is plain or even something that has a little bit of colour or pattern. I love pairing this with plain knits – cream, white, black, etc. If you have a wide belt, you can wear the scarf over your coat or blazer and then cinch everything in with a wide belt.

I would wrap it one side around my neck, but rarely would I wrap the entire scarf around my neck or loop it around the neck because it’s not the look I’m going for and I think the scarf is not long enough to look good once around the neck.

Overall

I am really enjoying the scarf at the moment, it adds a bit of class to my otherwise monochromatic and boring outfit. The beige colour looks great on almost all skin tones and all neutral colours. I know that Burberry does smaller checks and one larger check (Mega), and honestly, I love this Giant check the most. I don’t prefer the smaller check as it looks way too busy and the Mega check is slightly too block-like. The cashmere quality is really soft and beautiful, but I will need to use it more to see how it wears. At the moment, it doesn’t shed at all and there are no pilling. I will make sure I air this out after each wear so it doesn’t accumulate odours.

As above, I paired it with a white knit top with some black trims, a pair of black legging and knee-high boots for a lovely wintery morning in town. I went to Dior on Queen Street for some shopping, I am also using my Strathberry Allegro Midi for the first time, it has a beautiful fall colourway (purple potion/vanilla/maple) and looks great with my outfit (what do you think?) I let the scarf hang on my neck and just drape over the front. I could also tuck it into my belt if I don’t want it hanging around.
