Les Chaînes De Chanel Illuminating Blush Powder

Where I got it

Around late October Farmers sent me an email and posted me a pamphlet about an exclusive Beauty Club sale for 5 days. We were offered 15% off across the entire beauty and fragrance area except for a couple of brands (Chanel, Dior, The Ordinary, Glasshouse Fragrance, etc.). There were also gift with purchases and Double Points for the brands that were not 15% off.

I always make use of the chance for double points to get Chanel or Dior products, because that is pretty much as good as it gets in Farmers. Every $250 spent gets you a $20 voucher so with double points, you only need to spend $125 to get $20 voucher. Just a tip on spending your vouchers during double points promo is not to use it because you won’t accumulate that $20 worth of spending to points. You are missing out on $40 worth of points if you use your voucher now. Wait for the double points to finish and then use it afterwards.

Anyway, I saw the new 2020 holiday collection and I was immediately drawn to this beautiful illuminating blush. The collection also comes with 4 Longwear Powder eyeshadow singles and 4 Luminous Intense Lip colours and a new nail colour shade. The colour theme is definitely antique gold and rose gold influenced. I didn’t pick up any of the lip sticks because the shades were really Fall/Winter and quite bold for me. I ended up picking up the Illuminating Blush Powder only for $116.

What I got

This is from the new 2020 Holiday Collection, and it is the Les Chaînes De Chanel Illuminating Blush Powder. An Exclusive creation whose surface is adorned with the legendary embossed chain motif. It is an intense golden pink illuminating powder for a luminous complexion.

How I find it

The packaging of this illuminating blush comes in the classic black and gold box with a pinky side. The compact comes with its little velvet pouch as usual and the compact is black with gold CC logo on top. The blush has its own round shaped blush applicator and the bristles are laid out in a semi-circle. It’s very much similar to Chanel’s highlighting powders but the bristles are white-coloured.

The chain embossing is so beautiful, it looks like the chains on a Chanel handbag with a CC logo in the middle. I didn’t want to ruin it, but I just need to try the colour out. I tested the shade at the counter and it’s was beautiful. It looks quite deep in the pan, but when applied lightly it gives a very nice flushed glow.

You can use the brush provides, but I prefer to use my own blush brush because I prefer a rounded top instead of a fan-shaped top. It applies quite sheer, quite different to the classic Chanel blush (Joues Contraste – powder blush).

Overall

This blush has a really gentle flush of colour and glow, it is really easy to wear and apply despite the product looking quite deep in the pan. There are no shimmers or micro-glitters to eccentuate the pores, so I felt really comfortable to wear this on my cheeks without bringing attention to my pores. The soft flush of colour is really natural-looking and sometimes I don’t even need to apply a separate highlighter if I bring this up slightly to my cheekbones, creating that summery flushed cheeks look. I like to bring my blush a little higher for that youthful look. If I focus on just the apples of my cheeks and bringing it closer to the centre of my face, I feel like I look kind of silly and unnatural. I prefer to have my blush from the middle of my apples and then up towards my temples, it seems to give me a more lifted look.
