Mintd box – 4th Birthday – July 2020

Where I got it

This would be my 4th box from my Mintd subscription to date and I would have to say the last box was really hard to beat (MINTD x MZ Skin) because of the value of the box, but if you are up for something that is more affordable and more full-sized, this box here for the celebration of their 4th birthday is something you need to be excited about! As always, Mintd charges my credit card on the 1st of the month and they ship it probably around 3rd or 4th day of the month. The total charge to my bank account was $153.76 including shipping at the current exchange rate. You are able to purchase this box as a one-off for £95. This box is valued of over £330.

This box arrived to me in New Zealand on 20/7/20 but unfortunately one of the products leaked and I think it is the Venn cleanser because it has a pump dispenser that has a twist-to-lock mechanism, but it got twisted to the open location and during transit, it must have pumped out some product. It got around the box and other products so it was a little messy, but the product is generally safe to use.

What I got

Venn Skincare Moisture Balance All-in-One Face Cleanser (Full Size 150ml, USD$65). Multi-tasking, non-foaming facial cleanser with low pH (5.0~6.0; similar to skin’s natural pH level) that, in one simple step, deeply cleanses the skin, including pores and wrinkles, and removes makeup, while gently exfoliating the skin. It does not use surfactants, but instead uses humectants to create formula particles that are 5-10 times smaller than pores to effectively cleanse the skin with a soft, hydrated finish. 96.8% of the formula are naturally-originated, and 82.7% are bioactives, driven by Vitamins B3 (Niacinamide) and B5 (Panthenol) and Antioxidants including Centella Asiatica (Cica) Leaf Extract, Ellagic Acid and Green Tea Catechins. How I find it

Venn Skincare Moisture-Balance All-in-One Face Cleanser. This is my 3rd product from Venn, while I’m still not fully educated with the technology and ingredients behind their products, I can tell that this brand is pretty big in the UK and US. This is the second time I have a Venn product in my Mintd box and I have seen good reviews of this cleanser already. It is a gel-cream cleanser that doesn’t lather or foam up, it feels really gentle and soothing on the skin and my skin doesn’t feel stripped afterwards. As a second step cleanser, it does it’s job well. I love the pump bottle design which is super convenient and hygienic. I am loving this cleanser!

Rodial Bee Venom Super Serum. Rodial is also a brand that is not available in New Zealand, and it’s not really talked about much within my community, but it seems like it is quite popular in the UK and the US. Honestly, I am not particularly fascinated by the brand or the packaging at all so I’m not expecting a lot. This serum has a whitish colour and a lightweight texture. It feels hydrating on the skin and not stick or slippery. I was expecting some sort of tingling effect because it is “bee venom” but I did not experience any redness or irritations. I used this for a good week and my skin has no sensitivity to it, but it is too early to see any specific results IMO.

111Skin Cryo ATP Sports Booster. I have tried a sheet mask from 111Skin before and it was the most expensive single-use sheet mask I’ve ever tried (it was a gift from Mecca Beauty Loop Level 3). Let’s just say it wasn’t as amazing as I needs to be considering it’s price. This booster serum has a fluid texture, almost like a thick essence and I like to use this after cleansing and toning because it is so watery light. About 3 drops is all I need for my entire face and neck, my skin feels slightly cooled down and refreshed. I then use a hydrating serum over this and a moisturiser on top.

Sunday Riley C.E.O Glow Vitamin C & Turmeric Face Oil. This is one of the oils from Sunday Riley that I initially wanted to try because of the brightening and glow it promises to give. But for some strange reason, I was a little put off by the turmeric ingredient and I lost interest. However, when I got around the trying this product out, I was pleasantly surprised! The oil is not greasy and it gives that instant glowing effect (of course, it’s an oil!) and overnight, my skin soaks it up and my skin looks radiant. Personally, it is not something I can use every night, but I do use it 2-3 times a week on top of a lightweight hydrating moisturiser. Even with combination skin, you need to hydrate first, and then put an occulsive product (i.e. oil) on top to lock all that hydration in. Otherwise, you will wake up feeling your skin is tight, but whist looking oily.

Overall

I am so impressed with this box because all of the products are high quality and they can easily make up a skincare routine (add your own oil cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen for the day and you are done!). I loved every product in this box it is really hard to choose one, but I will most likely repurchase the cleanser, simply because it is great and most affordable out of the 4 in here. The serums are really out of my price range and they are probably something I can find an affordable alternative. The face oil, however, I would consider repurchasing because it is not as expensive as the serums, but one bottle will last me a long time.

I am looking forward to the next box and I seriously couldn’t keep up with all these new full-sized products. I want a break, but at the same time I have FOMO. What if the next box has an amazing product or brand that I have not tried before? It’s already the 30th of July and they will be announcing the new box in a few days time.
