ColourPop Lunar New Year collection – Year of the Rat

Where I got it

Yes, I know. Another ColourPop haul! They are pumping new collections out like EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK! And you know what, they are all freaking gorgeous and I want everything! When I saw their email on the LunarNew Year collection I jumped online to get the entire collection and an extra lip product for my sister because I thought she would rock this red lipstick like a badass she is.

I picked up the entire collection which was USD$48. There is a Lux lipstick trio (sold separately @ $8 each or as a trio bundle for $20), a super shock cheek duo (sold separately as a duo for $14) and a Fourth Ray Beauty White Tea Face Milk (sold separately for $14). Altogether it was a value of $52 if you buy the lipsticks individually, but if you buy the trio bundle, it works out to be the same. FYI, the lip trio, cheek duo is limited edition, but the face milk is not a limited edition product.

What I got

I ordered the entire Lunar New Year bundle that has 3 Lux lipsticks, 2 super shock cheek (highlighter and blush), and face milk from Fourth Ray Beauty. The year 2020 is the year of the rat which is my year (so you can figure out how old I will be this year!) The packaging is so beautiful with the correct shade of red and gold, everything is so festive and pretty! The lipstick shades look similar in the tube, but on the lips, they are so different and soooo gorgeous! I will have try-on and swatches below.

How I find it

Good Fortune Lux Liquid Lipstick Trio (Its A Banger, On Cloud Dynasty, Take a Bao) 4.75g each. A plush, velvet liquid lipstick with medium buildable coverage that creates a soft, diffused look. features an innovative whipped formula that contains a blend of antioxidant-rich ingredients pomegranate, goji fruit and grape seed extract to nourish lips. It’s a Banger: Velvet midtone crimson red. On Cloud Dynasty: velvet deep brick red. Take A Bao: velvet rich red.

From the tube, but look pretty much the same with a slight tonal difference, but when I applied it on the lips and swatched it on my arms, they are entirely different and these are 3 really lovely shades of red that are so easy to wear for all skin tones!

Includes best selling blush Drop of a Hat and brand new highlighter Good Two Shǔ, each with an exclusive Lunar New Year stamp! Goody Two Shu is a champagne gold highlighter. Drop of a Hat is a pearlized peach with a golden chrome sheen.

I’m not new to the super shock formula but this one is way more soft and spongey than your usually one. The embossed pattern seems to make it even more soft. Both shades are so pretty, the golden champagne shade is a highlighter with a white/pale gold undertone (looks similar to Frosty but that one has more of a pink undertone/flip). The blush is super flattering on my light/medium skin with yellow undertones. I can see this shade looking amazing in lighter skin tones too.

Fourth Ray Beauty White Tea Face Milk

So this is my first Fourth Ray face milk but I have tried their cleansers before but I simply love the simple packaging and I have been wanting to try them but I’ve started to get picky of ingredients and the products I use on my face, I’m going to try this a few times and possibly give it away or use it on my body.

The glass bottle has a stopper and the face milk corresponds to the colour of the featured ingredient (not the main ingredient!). The featured ingredient is white tea in this instant (mind you, white tea is NOT white), along with the likes of hyaluronic acid and rice milk (this one is white!).

First of all, this is not a serum and it’s been marketed as a moisturiser booster. It feels like a lotion which you apply before moisturiser and after a serum to provide moisture and hydration. Personally my skin would be fine without a moisturiser after this face milk if I use a hydrating serum as well.

Right off the bat, there is a nice scent to this lotion. It’s not strong and doesn’t linger on for long. There isn’t fragrance listed in the inkey list, and no particular essential oils acting as fragrance. It comes out of the bottle as white liquid that resembles cream but it blends out easily without leaving a white cast. It does contain a lot of fermented ingredients as well as squalane which is an occlusive to lock that moisture down.

Overall

I’m all heart-eyes with the packaging of this collection. It’s simple but the red and gold colour is just perfect. ColourPop can do no wrong. I absolutely love the Lux lipsticks because their formula is so nice! Velvety smooth that is easy to apply and no streaks, no bleeding, no moving around and so easy to line without using lip liner! Definitely trying more shades.

The highlighter and blush duo is pretty much your standard super shock formula but slightly softer than usual. But the shades are pretty, but nothing out of this world.

Lastly, the face milk is actually quite hydrating and moisturising. I mainly use it as a serum and it feels really nice on the skin. It’s not sticky at all and absorbed by my skin easily.
