HiSmile At-home Teeth Whitening Kit

HiSmile At-home Teeth Whitening Kit

Where I got it

I have been wanting to get an at-home whitening kit for a while now even before I went and got it whitened at The Whitening Co (review here). I contemplated on getting their kit, but it was very expensive over $150. During this time, I watched two review videos on YouTube on the HiSmile’s latest whitening formula and they were pretty good reviews (sponsored content hmm..?). Anywho, I took advantage of their Black Friday sale for 30% off their (approx NZD$67) whitening kits and I just ordered it. My parcel arrived on Monday from Australia.

How I find it

I gave this a go right away the day I received it. So I brush my teeth thoroughly before using this, I put the silicone mouth-piece to the LED light (it’s just an easy wrap around). I have already taken that battery protector plastic prior. The I took one of the whitening gel syringes, twist the cap off the top and as per the instructions, use the correct amount (1/4 markings) to each side of the mouth-piece. The gel is quite sticky to the silicone mouth-piece so it does not drip.  Then I just put it in my mouth and adjust my lips around the thing. Turn it on and you are set.

I prefer sitting down and recline a little because usually when something is in my mouth, it will produce a lot of saliver and it’s usually very annoying. I don’t want to swallow too much of the gel so I find sitting reclined helps to just get my saliver to the back of my throat and swallow without affecting the whitening gel. You might need to move your teeth or mout-piece a little to properly distribute the gel, but once its no, it does run or move.

When 10 minutes is up, the machine does a sharp beep and the light turns off. Then I just remove it, spit, rinse or brush my teeth. From first application, I don’t really see a big difference, but since it is an at-home strength, I am not expecting amazing results in one go. As recommended from the pack, you are supposed to do this 6 days in a row (each syringe is 2 applications, so 3 syringe is 6 applications).

Overall

So I used this kit for a 6 days continuously as recommended and I didn’t see a massive difference in the first go, but I start to see a difference maybe in the 3rd go? By the last treatment, I can see my upper teeth has gone whiter but my bottom teeth didn’t really change a lot. As you can see from the photo below, I started with shade 4/5 for the upper teeth. I did not edit the lighting of these photos at all and are taken in the same bathroom lighting. My teeth ended up to be shade 2/3 which I am quite happy about with at-home whitening results.

Before and After

HiSmile does recommend to go through 1 treatment every 2 weeks which I assume is 1 treatment instead of a 6-day program? If you know, please confirm if that is the case. However, from their website, they do state that the results would last anywhere between 3-4 weeks depending on your lifestyle and eating/drinking habits. For example, smoking, tea, coffee, etc. I try to prolong my results by drinking my tea through stainless steel straws to reduce the amount of tea that touches my teeth.

I will reorder some gel refills to maintain my white teeth so this will be a continous thing that I have to do. But for 10 minutes every week or 2 weeks, it is very convenient and affordable!
