Antipodes Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream

Where I got it

I was sent this from the Antipodes team for trial and review (thank you so much!). Honestly, they are a brand that has been sending me their products non-stop even though now I have pretty much fell out of the cool-influencer bandwagon a couple of years ago. I have been receiving no press send outs for a long time if you haven’t noticed. I buy most, if not all of the items I review on my blog.

Anyway, Antipodes has been one of my favourite skincare brands for me. I’m almost constantly using something from their skincare range. Currently I’m loving their Juliet Cleansing gel and their Aura Manuka Honey mask is just my all-time favourite. I have a couple of serums that I constantly go back to as well.

So this is a limited edition eye cream that is available from places like pharmacies, Farmers, Chemist Warehouse (they stock Antipodes, but not sure about this limited edition one?). It is RRP$72.99.

What I got

This is the Antipodes Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream. Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream is hte sister product of Antipodes’ best-selling Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream., The two products are designer to be used together.  This eye cream is used in the morning to lighten and brighten, and calm stressed skin, while Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream is used at night. Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream’s collagen-boosting formula helps moisturise and softne fine lines. THe combined result is brighter, more youthful eyes that shine.

23K gold is a pure yet edible, dissolvable infregient that is readily absorbed into the skin. It helps to calm and soothe while imparting a luminous flow to help brighten dark circles and dullness. Meanwhile, Vinanza Grapde and Kiwi helps address uneven skin tone. It is shown to have a positive skin brightening effect to help minimise dark circles and reduce excess pigmentation. Fragrance free and suitable for most skin conditions.

How I find it

Most of the time, I find myself a little too lazy to use an eye cream in the morning, or I forget to use one. Usually you would use your eye cream around when you use a serum, before a moisturiser ideally.

The formula is quite runny for a cream, almost like a lotion in a jar. So when it tip it in the side, the product will move, which I actually do like a less thick of an eye cream. So I use my index finger to dab into the product and work it between my two index finger and then apply with dabbing motions and then a gentle circular massage. I always apply eye cream like this so it’s not something I need to do differently.

The formula spreads evenly and smoothly and is absorbed in a couple of minutes. I don’t need to apply any other moisturiser to my eye area as it is hydrated and plump. I always bring it down to my cheek area just a little when I picked up a little too much product, so I don’t over moisturise my eye area.

The gold flecks melts and dissolves almost instantly you rub the product in and there are no obvious signs of the gold flecks. Inside the formula, there are larger bits of gold flecks and there are smaller particles that gives you a bit of luminous, but I’m not sure if those are 23k gold as well.

Overall

Very nice sort of medium weight eye cream, great for morning and night in my opinion. It’s not too thick and oily and not a watery eye gel which might not be able to give you that plumped up and moisture around the eye area if you are going to put on under eye concealer.

This is a very good base for underneath the eyes when you have to prep your skin for makeup. It won’t be overly greasy so makeup moves around on top. But it smooths the area out so that your makeup lasts longer.

It is also good to use on its own with a hint of light-reflecting particles in there that is not too obnoxious. I would suggest mixing this with a little bit of foundation to create an illuminating tinted eye cream.
