Cover Fx Monochromatic Blush Duo

Where I got it

I got this from the Sephora.nz website for $65. It’s not exactly affordable but when I saw this and the larger palette on their Instagram page, I fell I love! I wanted to get the larger palette, but it was it available on Sephora.nz. You can also get CoverFx products from BeautyBay.com, Beautylish.com and also Cult Beauty (I can’t see this duo on both of these websites, but I see the Perfector Face Palette). Interesting fact, the Perfector Face Palette which has 6 products – 2 highlighters, 1 blush, 1 finishing powder, 1 contour and 1 brightener is only USD$53, but this blush duo is USD$45.50! There is a total of 14.5g for the blush duo, but the face palette also has 19.5g product in total. If I would’ve known the price difference on BeautyBay.com, I would’ve ordered from there instead… hmmm.

What I got

This is the Cover Fx Monochromatic Blush Duo in Sweet Mulberry. From coverfx.com: A richly pigmented, talc-free blush palette featuring a duo of monochromatic matte and shimmer shades for a multidimensional finish. Formulated talc-free for colour-true, high-impact payoff, these blush palette duos include both a matte and shimmer shade for a monochromatic, multidimensional effect. Use individually or layer together to customize your finish.

How I find it

This is a dark, plum-toned blush which I do not have many in my collection. It has a matte and shimmery version and you can use them on their own or layer them together for an intense blush look. I can see that this shade would probably look best on people with a deeper skin tone. I have light/medium skin tone and would need to use this very light-handedly.

The formula is a pressed powder that is really quite smooth. It’s not buttery soft so don’t expect a soft texture. It’s not chunky and even when I run my finger up and down the colour, it doesn’t create patches on my fingers.

Overall

Unfortunately even though this product looks amazing in the pan and the formula is pretty amazing, I can’t justify the cost of this for using it just as an eyeshadow because the deep plum/purple shade is way too dark in my skin. After a couple of uses, I had to give it up and sell it for someone else who can use it. I probably won’t get it in another shade again because it is generally quite an expensive product for a blush duo. I would probably end up buying the face palette?
