Clarins Skin Illusion Natural Foundation

Where I got it: I have been keeping a close eye on Clarins products ever since I’ve been using their Multi-active moisturiser range. Their skincare products are really top quality and it works great for my skin. Their revamped packaging also gets to me, it just screams simple elegance yet soft and gentle. As always, I get my Clarins products from the Botany Life Pharmacy because my friend Selina works there and she is such a darling! This foundation is $66 at Life Pharmacy but it is only $64 at Farmers.

What I got: This is the Clarins Skin Illusion Natural Foundation in shade 108 Sand. Clarins Light optimising Complex and Pink Opal Pigments, combined with a unique blend of ingredients, continuously hydrate and protects skin resulting in a beautifully radiant and perfectly even complexion. Flawless, quick and even application with the Foundation Brush, or with the fingertips for a more transparent result. Apply with light smoothing movements from the middle of the face outwards, then lightly blend in towards the neck, hairline and ears.

How I find it: First of all this foundation comes in 22 shades and is reformulation and repackaged version of their existing Skin Illusion Foundation. It comes in a glass bottle with a dropper instead of a pump as the product is very runny.

I like to use Clarins’ SOS Primers underneath to colour-correct (loving the peach and lavender shades), then I take about 4-5 drops of this foundation onto the back of my hand, and I use my fingertips to apply the foundation on my face. I like to blend with a dense paddle brush or a stippling brush. Since the foundation is quite watery and sheer in coverage, using a damp beauty sponge will absorb most of the product and leave no coverage at all, therefore a dense paddle brush will effortlessly blend the foundation over the skin for a flawless finish.

If you only have uneven skin tone or light discolouration, 3-4 drops would be enough for the entire face, but if you have acne scarring or hyperpigmentation, you might want to add an extra drop to each area of concern. This foundation layers on beautifully without looking cakey or patchy.

Overall: I absolutely love love love this foundation! The shade makes my skin look brighter without looking too ghostly or ashy looking. It has a natural satin finish that looks nice and glowy. It stays on my skin seamlessly without clinging onto dry areas or pores or lines. I have combination/oily skin and most foundation will move around and look weird around my T-zone. This foundation does not control oil, but it seems to work with the oils on my skin and keep it looking fresh. I just need to blot with tissue using pressing motion, and then I can either touch up with more foundation or powder or just leave it as it is. I have been using this foundation pretty much every second day because I just love it so much.
