Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

Where I got it: I have seen these in Farmers lately but the shade range available there was quite nude and pale which I know wouldn’t really work for me as a liquid matte lip colour, so I forgot about it. When I was shopping at Kmart the other day, I saw a few pink shades and this red so I grabbed it for $22.00.

What I got: This is the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink in 20 Pioneer. SuperStay Matte Ink™ Liquid Lipstick gives you a flawless matte finish in a range of supersaturated shades. Ink your lips in up to 16 HR saturated liquid matte. SuperStay Matte Ink™ features a unique arrow applicator for precise application and is available in a range of supersaturated shades.

How I find it: This is pretty much a matte liquid lipstick that gives a really intense stain. The applicator has a hole in the middle and a pointed tip at the top. The formula glides on smoothly and the pointed tip gives a precise application to the cupid’s bow and the bottom lip line. The formula is pigmented and this shade is not streaky at all. This Pioneer shade is a really pretty true red with a slight blue undertone.

Overall: The formula of this matte ink is pretty much similar to a matte liquid lipstick because they all leave a stain anyway. The product glides on smoothly and the consistency feels light but it does dry down a little tight on the lips if you know what I mean. I can feel it on my lips and when I purse them, they are a little sticky. But I must say they are pretty long wearing. I was eating lunch with burgers and fries and a drink and all that has worn off was the inside line of my mouth. The rest stayed up pretty well. I definitely don’t recommend reapplying over any sort of liquid lip or long-wearing lip products because the wet formula over an already dried down product just does not work whatsoever. So, unless you are prepared to rock the different shade lips after meals or drinks, you should either wear a more forgiving shade (i.e something similar to your natural lip colour) or bring lip makeup remover with you for removal and reapply to clean lips.
