Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum

Where I got it: I ordered this on the Paula’s Choice Australia website for AUD$45. I have been using Paula’s Choice products for a few years now and this is my second antioxidant serum. I have always ordered my products from the Paula’s Choice website.

What I got: This is a 30ml tube of Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Concentrate SerumOn the website: A skin-renewing antioxidant serum with an effective but gentle amount of retinol that helps develop a balanced-looking complexion while helping defend against environmental stressors.

SKIN BALANCING Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum has a unique texture with a soft, light feel that supplies skin with an exciting mix of antioxidants and retinol to help soothe skin, unclog congested pores and visibly improve the appearance of wrinkles and uneven skin tone. This revitalising serum amplifies your skin’s hydration and fends off environmental assault for a refreshed, more even-looking complexion.

Delivers an invisible layer of retinol and age-fighting antioxidants to ease the appearance of first signs of ageing. It also hydrates and helps defend skin against environmental assault. This cutting-edge formula helps to balance and revitalise skin, leading to a healthier, more normal-looking appearance.

How I find it: Texture of this serum is quite strange. It’s almost like a silicone primer with that amazing slip, but once you spread it or blend it across your face it seems to disappear. You really have to shake it up and mix it because the oily component and the silicone-like component separate and you won’t get the perfect texture that glides on smoothly. I use this after cleansing and toning and also after my BHA liquid (I use a liquid because I don’t like too many layers).

Overall: This is actually my second tube of Paula’s Choice antioxidant serum (I tried one for oily skin before) and I am again not really impressed. I guess a skincare product like this would require constant use to see results and the results might not be apparent (this helps with anti-aging, but usually skincare products for anti-aging are difficult to gauge and compare and take a long time to see results). The texture and feel of the serum on the skin is quite good, but in terms of its price and it’s immediate, visible effect I don’t think I would want to continue repurchasing. I have other more affordable antioxidant products in my drawers (i.e: The Ordinary) to try that I can continue using and repurchase. Therefore, this one is a pass for me.
