La Collection Privee Christian Dior Body Cream and Liquid Hand and Body Soap

Where I got it

I went on a shopping spree just before my birthday (early June) at Auckland CBD. I browsed in Chanel Beauty boutique at Britomart first, picked up some makeup and skincare, then I went into Dior for some items I treated myself for my birthday. I will cover those in another post about my experience at Dior Queen Street, Auckland. After that, I went into the Dior Beauty store at Commercial Bay. This is the only Dior Beauty boutique in Auckland (currently) that sells La Collection Privee Christian Dior perfumes, candles and body products. They also have a full range of skincare and makeup. Truely a luxurious shopping experience.

I was warmly greeted by staff (2 Asian ladies), and I quickly check to see if there were any new Dior makeup before heading into the perfume area. Tracy, one of the sales assistant asked me, in Mandarin, if I was looking for something in particular. Mandarin is not my strong language, but I was able to hold decent conversations, especially about skincare and makeup-related topics (lol). Anyway, there were at least 20 perfume lined up and I was a little overwhelmed. I usually wear something light and fruity, but I am also into light floral and musk. I explained that to Tracy and she selected a couple for me to test – Diorissima, Lucky, Rose Kabuki, La Colle Noire and Jasmin Des Anges. She also showed me some hand and body wash products as well as a body cream.

Long story short, I came out with a Body Cream in Lucky ($165), a Liquid Hand and Body Soap in Jasmin Des Anges ($99) and a 40ml bottle of the Rose Kabuki fragrance ($180). I will elaborate why I chose these in different scents below.

What I got

I picked up the La Collection Privee Christian Dior Body Cream in Lucky (150ml), and Liquid Hand and Body Soap in Jasmin Des Anges (350ml). Initially, I wanted to buy a small bottle Lucky, but when Tracy showed me the body cream and Hand and Body Soap, I was also drawn in. I use a body cream or body lotion daily and I only use one spray of perfume each day if I wear any. I also chose a body wash because I like how subtle the scent will be and it will fill my bathroom with the beautiful fragrance as well. I did not look at the candles, because I really don’t burn candles enough at home to warrant a spend over $100.

Lucky Body Cream (150ml). Lucky body creme intensely nourishes the skin, offering a sensation of comfort and pleasure. Its light and creamy texture leaves your skin soft, moisturized and delicately perfumed. Created to be a good luck charm, Lucky is the fragrance of good luck, echoing the history between the house of Dior and Lily-of-the-Valley. Lucky plays with its white flowers and Lily-of-the-Valley notes for a subtle discovery of its scent. Comes in 6 other scents.

“Christian Dior was very superstitious and would stitch a stem of lily of the valley into the seam of his dresses for good luck. I wanted to represent the perfume of this hidden lily of the valley, sewn into metres of silk, with a profusion of white flowers and freshness. The scent of his favourite flower gradually reveals itself. Lucky is a good luck charm and the perfume to wear whenever you want to cross your fingers.”

Jasmin Des Anges Liquid Hand and Body Soap (350ml). Jasmin des Anges liquid hand soap creates a voluptuous lather that offers comfort and softness to your skin. A daily step for delicately scented skin and an enhanced fragrance trail. Comes in 8 other scents.

“I particularly enjoy visiting the Grasse flower fields in early autumn, when the air is filled with the flowers’ fruity scent. This is when the last jasmine flowers are harvested and they provide a delectable perfume similar to a floral liqueur. Composed as a tribute to late summer, Jasmin des Anges is a floral-fruity invitation with aromas of almost-candied apricots.”

How I find it

So I made the decision to get Lucky in a Body Cream form because I also wanted to get Rose Kabuki. But Rose Kabuki is only available in perfume, not in body cream or body wash. Jasmin Des Anges was also a last minute decision because it just smells so good! I decided to try it in a Hand and Body Soap. Jasmin Des Anges is also available in body cream and perfume.

Immediately when I smelt Lucky, I was wowed. I actually did not know what Lily of the Valley smells like, but I loved it so much! Lucky is in the light floral category and it smells fresh and clean. The body cream has a thick creamy consistency and melts into the skin beautifully. It is quite moisturising and gives a really good layer of fragrance. It looks like a big jar, but I really don’t want to empty this because it is so beautiful and also so expensive as a body cream. Anyway, the amount that you see from the photo below is how much I used in one go for my arms and legs. I don’t usually apply body cream or lotion to my torso area because it is usually not as dry as my limbs, but I do also apply to my buttocks to keep it nice and smooth (lol).

Next, the Liquid Hand and Body Soap in Jasmin Des Anges (Jasmine Angels), also known as “Dama de noche”, meaning Lady of the Night.  Not sure why it is known as something else, but basically jasmine flower scented. The jasmine is light and fun, not sickly at all. It is refreshing instead of intoxicating I would put it. The light orange-coral like colour of the liquid soap makes this so beautiful on the countertop or in your minimalist shower. I don’t have a minimalist shower, so I put it on my sink and I don’t let my kids or husband use it (hubby won’t use it anyway, he avoids anything scented). I personally don’t use it every single day and just once in a while I use it as a body wash when I want to smell fancy. I prefer a shower oil by Aromatherapy Associates because they also smell amazing and they are also nourishing. A liquid soap on the other hand can be a little drying on the body.

The pump dispenser pumps out not a large amount and the consistency is actually quite fluid. I use about 2 pumps as a hand wash and about 4 pumps as a body wash. The soap lathers quite well and cleanses effectively also. It leaves a very nice fragrance on the skin and if I wash my hands before going to bed, I can still smell a faint scent the morning after. By no means this liquid soap has the same intensity of the body cream or even the fragrance, but it definitely makes your hands smell good right after you wash it.

Overall

First of all, I would like to say that these products are luxury products and are definitely not NEEDS for my daily life, these are just occassional indulgences. If you can afford it, go for it, but if you can’t, don’t break the bank for something you cannot afford. I don’t use everything luxury and I definitely could not afford to repurchase this continuously like my usual hand wash and body wash.

Overall, I love these prodcuts. Mainly because I love the scents and the packaging. Being able to put this on my vanity, on display makes me happy. I have this in my own bathroom, not for guests so I’m not happy because I impressed someone. Thses are purely for my own enjoyment. The Lucky body cream is so so dreamy, I love putting this on my body and the scent will linger around me for hours and hours. It is just a scented moisturising body cream, so it doesn’t firm the skin or smooth the skin (by exfoliation). The Jasmin des Anges Liquid Soap is a decent hand wash that does it’s job and adds a light fragrance. If they had a hand cream, I would’ve got the hand cream instead of the hand wash. However, at $99, I think it is a good entry level for a Dior fragrance-scented body product without needing to fork out $200+ for the fragrance.

Personally, I would purchase the Body Cream again, but in another scent because I have decided to purchase Lucky as a perfume bottle because I just love it that much. Do you have any favourite Dior fragrance?
