Revolution Pro HD Powder Contour

Where I got it: I got this from NZsale for $… Revolution is not available in New Zealand unless you get it from Tambeauty.com which will charge you quite a bit for shipping. However, I was on the market to get a contouring palette so I gave it a try.

What I got: This is the Revolution Pro HD Powder Contour in Light Medium. These are all powder products which contains 7 contouring shades and a highlighting/correcting shade which is the colour at the bottom right. Also comes in Fair and Medium Dark. The similar palette is also available in cream form. This is vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free.

From the website: “Sculpt, define and enhance your features with our new HD Pro powder contour palette. Available in powder and cream formula. Our powder contour palettes are great for everyday contour and highlighting. A mix of highlight, contour and bronzing shades in warm and cool undertones so you can find the shades to suit you. Long-wearing, highly pigmented and smooth blendable formula. Contour shades can be used to add definition and depth to the hollows of your cheekbones, jawline and temples. Highlight shades can be used to brighten under eyes, and enhance your cheekbones, cupids bow and wherever else you desire.”

How I find it: The palette is in a plastic packaging with a clear top. The size of each pan is quite generous which takes up the entire palette, but it comes without a mirror which is a shame. On the website, the shades look a lot lighter than in real life so I was a little disappointed because I pretty much can’t use the top right-hand shade and the bottom third shade. The pigmentation of these shades is really impressive and with minimal fall-out of kick-back. I use an angled brush to apply the product in the hollows of my cheeks and my jaw line. I use a smaller detail brush for the highlighter/corrector where I need it.

I often use the bottom left two shades as my contour, the top second and third shade as my nose contour and the top left and bottom right as a highlighter/corrector shade. I have also used some of these shades as my crease colour or as an eyeshadow base. Also, all of these shades including the highlighter shade is matte.

The overall tone of this palette is quite warm and I actually would prefer a more cool-toned contour shade so it doesn’t make my skin look dirty. I like to mix some colours sometimes to get the correct darkness depending on my foundation shade and if it is a day time or night time look.

Overall: Quite a nice palette for the price, you do get a lot of product but you would probably use only 2-3 shades often and the rest might go to waste. Unless you are a makeup artist, a contouring palette might not be something that you would use a lot. I would prefer to buy a single shade that is suitable for me rather than having a bunch of different shades that are of no use to me. Overall, I think this palette is good if the shades are suitable for you and/or you can use this on your clients, or if you change your skin colour much (i.e. self-tan), this would be a good option.
