Skin1004 Tea-Trica skincare

Where I got it

I received this product for free from Picky and SKIN1004 in exchange for my honest review. I have been trying a number of different Skin1004 products and love most of them so far. I have tried their Centella range, Hyalu-Cica range as well as Tone Brightening Range. I think the only range I have yet to try is their Poremizing range (it’s pink!). Currently, my favourite would be their Hyalu-Cica sunscreen and their Centella Soothing Cream. Having said that, I have not tried everything from their range, but I kind of get the general feel of their products.

The Tea-Trica range has only 4 products (price range from $8-$23) and I am only missing the toner. I wouldn’t say this is a complete routine because it lacks a moisturiser. I suppose this is for mix and matching with their other products. So the Tea-Trica range is formulated to treat acne-prone skin. The combination of tea tree extract, cica (centella), and Pine tree complex, is excellent for soothing acne-prone and sensitive skin.

How I find it

I opened up this tube of cleanser right away, as I was close to finishing my existing cleanser. I was really looking foward to trying a cleanser by Skin1004 because I have had really good experience with their other products. This is a foaming cleanser which comes out as a thick cream and you have to lather it up with water to get a creamy lather. I was a little surprised to see a cleanser like this because these tends to be a little drying. I was expecting to see a gel-cleanser or a milky cleanser, but since this is a blemish-prone range I guess it makes sense.

The BHA foam lathers up nicely from just a pea-sized amount for the entire face. This is not a makeup remover, so I would use a cleansing oil/balm first to remove makeup and sunscreen, then use this as a second cleanse. For me personally, I could use this as a day and night cleanser no problem.

After cleansing, I apply my existing toner, which is either the Chanel Le Blanc lotion or the Alpha-H Liquid Gold AHA lotion. Then I use a full dropper of this Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule for the whole face. The ampoule is really lightweight and runny so it was really hydrating and soothing. It is a lot more watery compared to the other ampoules from Skin1004 I have tried. I don’t really find this product hydrating, it is definitely soothing and fresh-smelling (I love the tea tree scent). This gets absorbed quite quickly and I can apply another serum on top without issues.

The Spot Cover Patch patches are packaged in a sealed plastic packaging within the resealable bag. These patches have a thin border around the central spot and there are 2 sizes.

With hydrocolloid pimple patches, I only every use these on break outs that have a white head on top. I wouldn’t use these on comedomes (pimples that are under the skin, red and painful) because these do not work on breakouts that are not on the surface. A patch like this is best to be used after cleansing and toning. I would be able to use the Relief Amouple because it is very lightweight and non-greasy. If you can, apply directly to cleansed skin without any oil on the surface to ensure best adhesion. Once the patch is correctly applied, I will apply serum and moisturiser to the rest of my face and be careful around the patch.

Overall

I would say 10 years ago, this tea tree range would be something my skin would love and benefit from. My skin was combination/oily and acne prone. I would say my skin was a lot more dehydrated. My skin would feel dry and uncomfortable, but still there would be a film of oil on my face constantly. This range is not “drying”, but it is soothing and lightly hydrating so soothe the irritation from breakouts. BHA to cleanse the pores gently, instead of stripping. Pair this skincare range with a balanced moisturiser, this would be great if you have mild acne and sensitive skin. However, now that my skin is more mature (at the age of 38), my skin still loves the ampoule and benefit from this gentle BHA foaming cleanser. I don’t find the need to use the Spot Cover Patch a lot, but when I do have a breakout, a cover patch is great for daily use.
