Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum

Where I got it

I have been wanting to try this serum foundation since it first became available at Mecca, but my shade has been sold out online for a while and then I forgot about it. This has been heavily compared with Chanel’s Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint because they are literally the same kind of product with foundation pigments suspended in a water-based serum. It is a skincare/makeup hybrid product to give you that really sheer skin tint whilst providing you with hydration and that dewy look. The tinted serum is a whopping $92 and comes in 14 shades. Shade 030 is 3rd lightest shade they offer.

What I got

This is the Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum (30ml). A hydrating skin tint that bridges the gap between powerful skincare and luminous makeup to instantly deliver sheer, radiant coverage. Pigment spheres are suspended within a skincare base infused with sodium hyaluronate to visibly plump and smooth the appearance of fine lines, squalane to weightlessly hydrate the skin, and peptides to help protect against environmental damage. Upon application with the Number 3 Foundation Brush, the microencapsulated pigment bursts on contact and effortlessly blends across the face, blurring the complexion for a luminous finish.

Ingredients: Water/aqua/eau, hexyl laurate, glycerin, pentylene glycol, octyldodecanol, squalane, tamarindus indica seed gum, jasminum sambac leaf cell extract, mangostin, acetyl tetrapeptide-2, sodium hyaluronate, tocopherol, alcaligenes polysaccharides, disteardimonium hectorite, amodimethicone, carbomer, magnesium chloride, trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate, sodium lauroyl glutamate, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, propylene carbonate, aluminum hydroxide, glucose, lysine, caprylyl glycol, benzyl alcohol, sodium hydroxide, citric acid, [+/-: mica, titanium dioxide (ci 77891), iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499)].

How I find it

I have used the Chanel Water Fresh Tint over 10 times and while it’s just a tint with barely any coverage, I do quite enjoy the experience. The Rose Inc Tinted Serum has the same fresh, hydrating sensation on the skin and very similar coverage. I would say the pigments in the Rose Inc Tinted serum were a little harder to break compared to Chanel, but they both blend out just the same. I would say I could not detect any difference once the product is blended out.  The Chanel Water Fresh Tint is $130 but only comes in 3 shades – Medium Light, Medium, and Medium Plus. Therefore I would say if you want to try something a little more affordable, try the Rose Inc first, you won’t be missing out too much from Chanel (except for the lovely scent and the little brush that comes with it).

With this kind of product, I prefer to use either my fingertips or a stippling brush to apply. I would not use a beauty sponge because everything would go into the sponge instead. I pump out the product onto the back of my hand and then break down the pigments with my fingertips. Then I apply the product all over my face and blend it out. If I wanted extra coverage, I would apply a bit of concealer under my eye area and maybe on either side of my nose to help darkness to those areas. I would also avoid powdering all over my face to cancel out the dewiness from the tinted serum. If I were to use a powder, it would be something like the Hourglass ambient lighting power which it wouldn’t take away too much of the glow on the skin.

Overall

If you have pretty good skin and do not need or do not want a lot of coverage, this tinted serum is quite a fun product to use. It does give you a tint to even out your overall skin tone. If you have discoloration, I would suggest color-correct first and then applying this tint. If you need more coverage around the eye area, spot conceals with a sheer coverage concealer or a light layer of medium coverage foundation. This tint leaves a dewy look on the skin so I would try to avoid powdering my entire face, maybe just around my undereye area if I have applied any concealer. Otherwise, I would use a brightening glow powder like one from Hourglass to set the product whilst keeping that glowy look.

This is certainly not something I reach for most days because I do like a bit of coverage – sheer to medium, but when my skin is behaving very well and I’m just going to the beach or just like a casual sports day and I want some kind of tint, I would go for this product. It’s not burdening my skin and it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing makeup. The only thing about these types of product is how it works over my skincare/SPF. I wear a good layer of SPF on a daily basis and sometimes the layer of sunscreen can be quite water-resistant and could interact with the water-based tint and bunch up. Therefore it has been a bit of trial and error. But generally, I really don’t know how effective, the skincare benefits can be from a makeup product infused with skincare if you know what I mean.

Have you tried this Tinted Serum of the Chanel Water Fresh Tint? What did you think of them?
