U Beauty Skincare

Where I got it

I was sent these products from U Beauty for trial and my honest review. I have heard of this brand about 2 years ago from Tina Craig’s skincare video on Harper’s Bazaar YouTube channel. I actaully have no idea who she is, but she has amazing skin and I believe this is her brand. U Beauty has a total of 7 products including a lip product and 2 body products. Interestingly, they have a product called the Sculpt Arm Compound which is a body contouring product specifically for the arm area! Check it out on their website!

The Barrier Bioactive Treamtne

How I find it

I went straight into the Resurfacing Compound because it was one of the top product that I wanted to try. It promises to resurfance and renew my skin within a couple of days and no one would ever say no to that! I started to incorporate this into my daily skincare routine by adding this right after my hydrating toner. So after my toner, I would use 2 pumps of this serum all over my face and neck. I was a little surprised that the texture and colour looked like liquid honey with an interesting gel-like texture. I loved how it felt on the skin and it did not feel tingling on the skin at all. I would say this is quickly absorbed by my skin and whatever I used above was easily applied and absorbed as well.

After about a weeks use of this serum, I did see my skin looking brighter and more dewy, but I still have active hormonal breakouts which I do still battle with. Other than my jaw area, my skin reacted very well with this serum and I saw brighter, plumper skin on my cheeks and forehead. After another week of use, I started to the skin around my cheeks and nose area clearing up from congestion, but the hormonal acne still has not improved. Because this product contains AHA and retinols, I stopped my existing AHA and tretinoin products for the duration I was using this serum. After about 3 weeks of use, I started using tretinoin on top of this serum because my acne was really getting a little out of hand. My skin handled it really well with no irritation at all. However, when I applied a 10% hydrogen peroxide to my problem areas, my skin started to dry out and started to peel. That’s when the other two products come into play…

Resurfacing Compound

I started using the Super Hydrator on the second week of trying the Resurfacing Compound because I wanted to introduce new products to my skin step by step. I figued that the Super Hydrator is a trusty hydrating serum/moisturiser and it is not a active, so it would be quite easy to incorporate and won’t ruin my skin barrier if everything goes south. I was expecting the Super Hydrator to be a lightweight hydrating lotion with a watery texture. However, I was a little taken aback by the thicker texture. It is more of a moisturiser than a serum. It looked almost like a moisturiser with SPF because of how thick it came out to be. When I apply it, it envelopes the skin and once it is massaged into the skin, it feels really nice. It took my combination skin a little bit of time to fully settle and absorb, but it does not leave a dewy finish or sticky feeling on the skin.

It gives my skin good moisture and I don’t need addition skincare over this and I can move onto my SPF for the day. This moisturiser could be used day and night with no problems and it just feels soothing on the skin and just long-lasting moisture and comfort. It contains oat extracts, shea butter, peptides, avocado oils, grapeseed oils, etc. All of these are wonderful for all skin types and just builds up your skin barrier.

Super Hydrators

After another week or using the above 2 products, I started using the Barrier Bioactive Treatment. Now this product sounds pretty intense right? But it also has the word barrier, so I assume this is a treatment for my skin barrier, instead of a harsh active on my skin. I incorporated this in my nighttime skincare routine because it is an overnight treatment that you can use 2-3 times a week as a skin renewing treatment. This should be used as the last step of your skincare routine, so you can use it on top of moisturiser. However, after testing the texture out, I used this in place of a moisturiser. So after cleansing and toning, I applied the Resurfacing Compound and then this Barrier Bioactive Treatment all over my face and neck. It comes in an airless pump design so I use only 2 pumps for the entire area and that covers my skin very well.

The treatment actually has a slightly lighter texture than the Super Hydrator which is quite nice to put on. My skin has not experienced any sensitivity to the treatment at all and I would say that thanks to the delivery system SIREN, the actives do not cause sensitivity issues and is delivered to where it is needed. I have since used this 2-3 times a week for just over 6 weeks. My skin has been through a little bit of breakout period and that has since passed and my skin is now pretty stable without any irritations or clusters of breakout. My skin looks brighter and more even toned, I wouldn’t say all my skin issues are resolved, but it’s definintely getting there.

Overall

Overall I am very happy with these products, especially the Resurfacing Compound and the Barrier Bioactive Treatment. However, I did have to be careful with using these products with Tretinoin and other strong actives at the same routine. I was experiencing some breakouts during the time of the month and I used a strong BHA cleanser along with a 10% benzyl peroxide pimple cream for about a week and it wrecked my skin. I had to go back to the basic skincare for about a week or so to “fix” my skin. During that time I tried using the Bioactive Treatment, but I got a slight tingling sensation so I stopped and when back on it once my skin has recovered.

These products are pricey, but I would say the Resurfacing Compound is really a star product if you have the money to spend. Definitely a product that could take care of a number of skincare concerns. Let me know if you have tried any of these or interested in trying these. Using my links to purchase gives me a bit of commission, so thank you in advance!
