Chanel Coco Mademoiselle The Body Oil

Where I got it

I was at the Chanel boutique in town the other day for their Tweed palette pre-launch. My SA Julia told me that there were other new products including this beautiful body oil. Coco Mademoiselle is not a familiar scent to me, but I was immediately drawn by the beautiful bottle. It is in a high-quality plastic bottle (thin and clear) with a white cap with a gold band around it. The body oil comes with a spray nozzle so you can easily spray it on your skin. I had a quick spritz on the back of my hand and it smelt really nice! I wonder why I have never tried Coco Mademoiselle before. So I asked for the price and decided to get a bottle. This 200ml bottle retails for $141. You can also find this on Smith & Caughey’s website.

What I got

This is the Chanel Coco Mademoiselle The Body Oil (200ml). Description: COCO MADEMOISELLE The Body Oil spray absorbs instantly for long-lasting hydration and a non-greasy finish. It leaves skin feeling supple and silky, enveloped in the fresh, sensual notes of COCO MADEMOISELLE. Composition: Made with 79% naturally derived ingredients, including a blend of high-quality plant oils (jojoba and Limnanthes alba) and a moisturising active ingredient developed from rose and jasmine, The Body Oil nourishes skin from the very first application. Vibrant notes of orange give way to an extremely feminine jasmine and rose accord, which is then accentuated by the elegance of patchouli. Inspiration: COCO MADEMOISELLE draws its inspiration from the fascinating personality of Gabrielle Chanel. The fragrance is the olfactory reflection of an independent thinker who breaks the rules to create her own. The portrait of a woman who is ready to daringly write her own destiny. Art of perfuming: A fragrant bath and body ritual that prolongs the amber-fresh scent trail of COCO MADEMOISELLE. Apply a generous amount of oil all over the body to moisturise the skin. The spray format makes application a breeze.

How I find it

After my first bottle of body oil from Chanel (Les Beiges Illuminating Body Oil), I knew I would get more of Chanel’s body products. When Julia showed me the bottle, I immediately tested the body oil on my hand and smelt it. It smelt really good and I was surprised I didn’t feel this way about the perfume of Coco Mademoiselle. At the time I was in the boutique, I wasn’t paying attention to how the spray bottle performed, but when I got home and tried out the body oil for these photos, the spray nozzle was really disappointing. It was a squirt more than anything. it was not a spray at all and the squirt was a little forceful too.

I imagined using the spray directly on my body, but I think now I have to squirt it onto my palms and then spread it onto my body. Regardless, the body oil is really silky smooth and very runny. It is not a thick oil and it smells amazing. A little body oil goes a long way in terms of fragrance, but the moisturization of the body oil was not intense. I would say that the texture of this body oil and the Les Beiges shimmering oil were very much the same. They are dry oils, therefore it provides a nice surface sheen on the skin and not deep hydration.

Overall

I absolutely adore this scent for the upcoming warmer months! It is a sweet, floral, girly scent and in form of a body oil it just makes the whole experience very luxurious and joyful! However, since it is a dry oil, it is not a very moisturising body oil so don’t expect this to cure your dry skin. So when I feel that my skin is dry, what I like to do is to apply a fragrance-free body lotion, preferably a lightweight lotion, and then I apply this over the top to seal in that moisture and to provide a light scent. If you have the Coco Mademoiselle body lotion, it would be great to layer underneath to intensify the fragrance, but I always feel that is a waste of product. If I want a more intense fragrance, wouldn’t I just get the perfume or EDT?

I prefer a body lotion/body oil because the scent is light and it just leaves a trace of scent when you walk past or is close to someone else. It’s not offensive, it’s not in-your-face. I would love Chanel to improve their spray nozzle though, unless mine was just a dud. Anyway, I see that the Chanel holiday 2022 collection has a No5 Body Oil AND a Coco Mademoiselle Pearly Body Gel which I am very interested in. I will definitely be getting one of them. If I can skip on the makeup collection (which I might), then I would most likely grab both body products. What are your thoughts??
