Chanel Gabrielle and Chance Eau Fraiche Hair Mist

Where I got it

Just before the end of 2021, received a text from my Chanel beauty SA that they will be doing a gift with purchase offer for a cute, red toiletry pouch when I purchase over $150. I decided to try out some hair mists because I have heard of these products, and know that they are less intense compared to even EDT. The prices are more affordable as well. I already have quite a few skincare products from Chanel that I have yet to open and use and no new launches yet until early next year.

So I ordered two hair mists – Gabrielle ($85 for 40ml) and Chance Eau Fraiche ($76 for 35ml) and she packaged everything and posted it to me complimentary. Now I have received this before the New Years, but I decided to open this on 2022 as a present for myself for surviving 2021! Woohoo!

What I got

I bought the Chanel Gabrielle Hair Mist (40ml), and Chance Eau Fraiche Hair Mist (35ml). I have not been a big perfume person to start with and I prefer lighter perfume than really strong and long-lasting scents. I prefer light florals, fresh citrus, or soothing bergamots and sandalwoods. I use a maximum 2 spritz each time and if it fades and I need to keep smelling great, I would top up during the day instead of wanting a ultra long-lasting fragrance because those usually give me a massive headache.

How I find it

Chance Eau Fraiche was something that I have tested out at a local Chanel counter, and if I wanted a Chanel perfume, this would have been the first choice because it is fresh and light. Even the green colour is pleasing to my eyes. The prices for the Chance range is also more affordable compared to N.5 or Coco Mademoiselle, etc. Eau Fraiche is a playful, youthful scent that is great for the daytime and summer. I would definitely wear this more often than Gabrielle. So these being hair mists, they are light and the top notes are quite prominent and obviously it is not very long-lasting. It probably will last for maximum 2 hours. It is great if you want to freshen up during the day or you are just going out for a little bit and don’t need something to last for a long time.  It has notes on zesty citron, jasmine and a vibrant note of teak wood.

Gabrielle was something out of the blue. I was actually wanting to get the N.5 hair mist, but it was currently sold out and not in stock (I’m glad because I don’t really like N.5, I only wanted it for collection purposes), so I decided to go for something else. I thought I asked for Coco Mademoiselle, but there must’ve been a miscommunication and my SA sent me Gabrielle instead. I tried the Gabrielle perfume sample again and compared it to the Coco Mademoiselle sample I had and I actually prefers Gabrielle, so I did not return it. Gabrielle is a beautiful light floral scent which grew on me. I have used this a few times already and I grew to like it quite a lot actually. Coco Mademoiselle was way too feminine and intense for me. It has notes on ylang ylang, tuberose, jasmine and orange blossom which are all my favourite floral scents!

Overall

I love my new little babies and I really need to clear out my old perfumes and set up a nice little area to display these beautiful bottles. These hair mists are nice, but they really don’t last long. Probably around 1-2 hours and it fades out pretty much entirely. There were very minimal residue of the fragrance on my clothing and I could easily top up when I want to. I figured that I might get a EDP of either of them because they smell so nice. I would apply the EDP first and then bring the hair mist for top up.

Before finishing up, I did receive this lovely red vanity pouch as a gift with purchase (over $150). These GWP offers are limited to specific timeframes and you would only know if you are contacted by a SA because they do not promote this online or in-stores. This pouch is exactly the one that you would get if you purchase their holiday sets (overseas – US, UK, etc.). New Zealand do not get any of these holiday sets at all and none of the online retailers that stock Chanel would not allow shipping of these here. So I was quite happy to get this as a gift. This pouch has little loops on the side that you can easily hook chain straps on either side and convert this into a cross body bag. Inside the bag, it is lined in black material with a gold-toned zipper. The lettering outside is ironed on and the texture of the bag is more like a tweed material.
