Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

Where I got it

I picked this up at Hikoco in Sylvia Park while I was there for a brief trip back in October. The Sylvia Park branch was closing down therefore they were doing 10% off for all products there. I picked this up for $24.30 after a 10% discount. I decided to pick this up because a fellow skincare lover I follow on IG loves this product and since the product is very affordable, I thought let’s give it a try.

How I find it

This isn’t my first time trying snail mucin extract in my skincare, but the last time I did was years and years ago so I don’t remember any of it. I did some research on snail excretion and its benefits on the skin include moisturisation, promotes collagen production, aids in skin healing and regeneration.

I would say this is more of a serum than an essence because I would associate essences with lighter textures. The serum comes out a little thick but it does move. When you rub it into your skin, it becomes thinner and is easier to spread. You can get that sticky, stringy texture before it gets too rubbed in. Once the product is fully rubbed in, it leaves a film on the skin but it’s not sticky or slimey or greasy, but you can just feel it.

Overall

To be honest, I bought it, tested it and put it back in my drawers and forgot about it. I have been testing out other products and it was just a little hard fitting everything in at the same time. It is November now and I finally have the time to put it into my skincare routine.

Because it is not an “active” product like an acid, it hardy have any complications with other products. The only think I had to be really careful is the consistency of this combined with other serums. I wouldn’t apply too much on top, or underneath this as the sticky texture might affect other formulas. So I keep things simple and only use two serums (including this) max. I can even use this on nights when I use Tretinoin (let Tretinoin dry down for about 5-10mins and then apply other serums or moisturiser on top).

Alright, so I have been using this for at least 6 weeks and I can conclude that it is a very hydrating serum without feeling slick or sticky. It is quickly absorbed, but I definitely need more moisture. It works well with other products on top so I don’t have any issues with pilling. Besides hydration, I can’t really tell what other major benefits it gives me.
