Diorskin Nude Skin Luminizer

Where I got it

Around late October Farmers sent me an email and posted me a pamphlet about an exclusive Beauty Club sale for 5 days. We were offered 15% off across the entire beauty and fragrance area except for a couple of brands (Chanel, Dior, The Ordinary, Glasshouse Fragrance, etc.). There were also gift with purchases and Double Points for the brands that were not 15% off. This highlighter was $93.

I always make use of the chance for double points to get Chanel or Dior products, because that is pretty much as good as it gets in Farmers. Every $250 spent gets you a $20 voucher so with double points, you only need to spend $125 to get $20 voucher. Just a tip on spending your vouchers during double points promo is not to use it because you won’t accumulate that $20 worth of spending to points. You are missing out on $40 worth of points if you use your voucher now. Wait for the double points to finish and then use it afterwards.

What I got

This is the Diorskin Nude Skin aluminised in shade 05 Rose Glow. Diorskin Nude Luminizer highlighter instantly lights up the complexion with an iridescent sheen and gives the face a multidimensional glow. With its high concentration of shimmery pigments, the highlighting powder sculpts the face and revives the complexion, making it radiant. Among the shades, the unique* holographic shade of the highlighter brings out facial contours.

How I find it

First of all, let us appreciate the beautiful packaging of this compact. It comes with its little velvet pouch just like all other makeup products from Dior that comes in a compact. The compact itself has a mirror-finish case on the top with the classic grid and criss-cross design. The base is a clear plastic holder with a silver pan. The highlighter has the NUDE word pressed into and the sheen you see here is not an over-spray. It also says MINERAL in the letter D.

Shade 05 Rose Glow is a warm pink iridescent sheen and while I was at the counter, the powder highlighters were basically at the bottom of the stand so it wasn’t very appealing and standing out. Thes little tester samples were not looking fresh as well. I tried out a couple of colours that I would be interested in (champagne shades mainly), but the options were not large. They had a silvery, holographic one which is like a white/green duochrome. Not what I was looking for in a luxury makeup item, but it’s quite cool. The sales lady is Asian so she recommended me to go pink instead of the champagne and gold as that will make our yellow-undertone even more yellow.

I went with her recommendation and went for the light-medium intensity pinky highligher from the range. 02 Pink Glow was a little too pale on my skintone. Honestly, I would have gotten either 01 Nude Glow or 03 Golden Glow if I didn’t listen to her recommendation. I understand that it is common for Asian to opt for that fair-skin, pinky glow-from-within look, but I also love that golden glow to enhance my natural skin tone.

Anyway, if I love the formula of this highlighter, I might pick up more shades anyway and I don’t think Dior launches new shades often for these highlighters. They focus on their lip colours and foundation products mostly.

Overall

First of all, the compact is just beautiful, I love it. However, it is quite slim and it can be a little difficult to open. It does not come with a brush so I guess that’s why it can be so compact. I usually don’t care about brushes that come with compacts so I’m not too fussy. This would be great for travelling or in my handbag.

The highlighter shade is really beautiful with a hint of rosy glow to it. It looks really nice on my skin as it is not a silvery glow which could look quite unnatural. It has a smooth texture and is not powdery on the skin. The glow is really fine and not sparkly or glittery. It just looks so pretty and very natural on the skin.

Wearing 05 Rose Glow on my cheekbones

I would love to buy more Dior highlighters, but at the moment, this shade is probably best of my skin tone. I would try 03 Golden Glow thought which has a golden look instead of a rosy look.
