Dior Backstage Face and Body Primer

Where I got it

I ordered this from Sephora when they had the Beauty Insider 20% off sale. I am in the Sephora Black tier which is the middle tier (White, Black, and Gold), and I get 20% off everything same as Gold tier, but Gold tier gets to shop one day in advance than us. I picked up two products from Dior and this is the Face and Body Primer which retails for NZD$72 and it came down to $57.60.

Dior Backstage

What I got

This is the Dior Backstage Face and Body Primer (30ml). A universal primer with an instant radiance-enhancing, plumping and blurring effect and added 24-hour hydration. This primer provides an unprecedented combination of blurring and radiance, plumping your skin, providing 24-hour hydration and keeping your complexion matte all day long.

How I find it

I have tried this from a sample I got previously along with the foundation and I loved them both! I ended up getting the foundation first and then this time I also got the primer because 20% off is quite a good deal. This primer, much like the foundation is in a squeeze bottle with a silver screw top lid. The primer has a really nice thickish lotion texture, almost a silicone-like texture, but it doesn’t give that slippery slide feel that silicone-rich primers give. The primer really does smooth out the skin to the touch, it helps with blurring pores, but don’t expect them to disappear completely of course.

When the primer settles, which doesn’t take long, but it doesn’t leave your skin tacky or sticky. You can definitely use this alone without looking strange because it doesn’t mattify your skin to the point of looking weird, but it does give that blurred look on the skin. I often use this in conjunction with the Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation because they work like a dream – good buildable medium coverage with this natural-looking finish that lasts for a long time even on my combination oily skin.

I often go without setting the foundation with loose powder when I’m just out for a little while and the weather isn’t too hot and humid. I would set my foundation with translucent loose powder and my makeup would stay put and looking perfect for longer.

Dior Backstage Face and Body Primer

Overall

I really like the texture of this primer and how it doesn’t give that thick, slipper silicone-texture or any illumination. Sometimes I want to use a more dewy foundation but I don’t want to look too glowy with a illuminating primer so I use a “normal” primer which smooths out my skin. I love the smell of this product as well which is something quite personal and I do understand some people think Dior products have a strong fragrance and they want to avoid it. But the fragrance does not irritated my skin or nose so I’m fine with it.

The primer does extend the wear of the foundation and it also makes my foundation glide on easier and prevents my other foundations to no sit in my pores or lines (I don’t have these issues with my Dior Backstage foundation). I would definitely repurchase this primer and the matching foundation.
