Votary Super Seed Serum

Where I got it

If you have read some of my previous blog posts, you might know already I have a beauty connoisseur friend in New Zealand whom I met online around the end of 2019. She has heaps of extra products she wanted to let go, and I have already bought a couple of products from her at extremely good prices. She also got me into a lot of different brands I have never heard of before. So I got from her, this Super Seed Serum by Votary and I paid $100 for it. My first Votary product for the skin, my first one was a lip oil. This product is £75.00, which is approximately NZD$145.00.

Votary is a brand that is founded in the UK and based in the UK. You can find their products on Sephora. The brand began at the kitchen table of makeup artist, Arabella Preston. Arabella started blending pure plant oils to cleanse her own skin, and to prep the skin of her high profile clients. Every product in the Votary range is made from pure plant oils and botanical actives. Votary is proudly vegan, and no Votary products contain any animal-derived ingredients. Votary products are cruelty-free and never tested on animals. All Votary products are made in the UK in small batches from the highest quality ingredients.

Votary Super Seed Serum

What I got

This is the Super Seed Serum by Votary (30ml). For sensitive, redness-prone and irritated skin.  Votary Super Seed Serum relieves redness while calming and softening skin. Cooling and refreshing on your skin, it leaves your skin more resilient and less reactive. Broccoli seed and rosehip oil deliver a natural lipid boost while hyaluronic acid increases hydration and plumps skin.  Grape seed extract soothes reactive skin while natural and bio-engineered peptides boost the skin’s natural defences by supporting lipid function and microbial balance. Because we know that sensitive skin is – well – very sensitive, Super Seed Serum is formulated to be free from fragrance allergens and colour. The curated active ingredients mean that sensitive and irritated skin is soothed and improved. Skin feels fully hydrated and protected.

Votary Super Seed Serum

How I find it

This serum is a new product from their Super Seed range which currently consists of cleansing oil, a facial oil, a cream, a booster night drops and health supplements. Now they have added a serum to the collection. I have seen really good reviews of the Super Seed collection which boasts effective, natural care for sensitive, dry, hormonal and redness-prone skin.

I like to apply this after my lighter serums or hydrating essence, then I will use a moisturiser on top. The fragrance-free serum has a really seedy scent if that is a word. The smell is really interesting indeed. Not fruity, not citrus, no nutty, not chemically, just like mashed up seeds!

Overall

By the time I tried this out, I found out that both my August Boxwalla Beauty Box and the September Mintd x Votary box had this serum in it, so I end up having 3 bottles! I have already used up a third of the bottle in a month and my skin doesn’t mind it. Everything I use it, my skin feels moisturiser and soothed. I seldom have any major concerns about sensitivity but I have just started using Tretinoin every 3rd night and I did see some peeling skin around the eye area near my temples. I used this on my whole face for trhe 2 other nights and it calmed it down and moisturised it a well. I like how it is relatively unproblematic and not another “acid” or “active” product so I can easily slot this into my existing or everyday skincare routine. It’s a no-brainer.
