Shiseido Gift with Purchase February 2020

Where I got it

This GWP started on 12th February in Farmers and Life Pharmacy and it will end on 1st March. These usually go on for a good 3 weeks. Like their usual GWP offers, you need to purchase a minimum of 2 products with one item being skincare. I picked up a toning lotion for my hubby as he is due for a replacement. I also got something for myself as my current Shiseido sunscreen is about finished. I picked up one of their new sunscreens – The Perfect Protector SPF50 which I will review in another post.

What I got

This time, there were no options on the skincare inside the GWP (my last review, there were 2 options to choose from). My GWP contains 6 items and one of them is a full-sized item. So here are the products: a 125ml bottle of the Instant Eye and Lip Makeup Remover, a 75ml Revitalizing Treatment Softener, a 10ml Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate, a 5ml Ultimune Eye Power Infusing Concentrate, a 5ml Wrinkle Smoothing Contour Serum and a mini ModernMatte Powder Lipstick in 515 Mellow Drama.

How I find it

Instant Eye and Lip Makeup Remover (125ml full size, $57). A 24-hour softening lotion with antioxidants, anti-aging and moisturizing ingredients that infuses immediate hydration and balances skin for fresh, dewy, healthy-looking skin prepped for skincare treatment.

This is actually not the first time I use this as I have received it in a previous GWP from Shiseido. The makeup remover is super effective and I love the smell! It is a 2-phased waterproof makeup remover and I find it removes my Dior waterproof mascara effortlessly! I am pleased to see this in full size!

Revitalizing Treatment Softener (150ml full size, $111). A deeply moisturizing Japanese softener enriched with effective ingredients to reduce the appearance of and resist multiple signs of aging. It not only delivers moisture but also locks moisture in to help revitalize the skin, making it more receptive to further skincare treatment.

You often don’t see softeners or essences or lotions in European skincare, but in Japan, they are an essential part of skincare. A softener is designed to be used after a toner or instead of a toner. It is hydrating and is supposed to provide first step of hydration so that the skin absorbs whatever will be applied on too much more effectively.

This treatment softener has a slight murky look to it, which is very interesting. The texture is quite fluid, not as viscous as I thought it would be, and it does feel very hydrating and not sticky at all! It does contain a fair bit of fragrance because it smells so nice! It leaves the skin feeling hydrated, but it’s not moisturising enough so you will need to follow on with something else.

Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate (75ml full size, $208)Our #1* Serum just got stronger with ImuGeneration Technology. Powered with anti-oxidant rich reishi mushroom and iris root extracts, to strengthen skin, restore firmness and defend against daily damage for skin that’s 28% stronger in just 1 week.** Skin looks even smoother, firmer, more hydrated and resilient.

The Ultimune is Shiseido’s best seller and hero product. It is also not my first time trying the serum and I can say that I have used at least 30ml of this product on and off. I am not particularly wowed by this serum mainly because I don’t see amazing results and it contains a fair bit of alcohol????

Ultimune Eye Power Infusing Concentrate (15ml full size, $119). This eye serum helps improve the appearance of the eye area by defending against daily damage caused by friction, like rubbing of the eyes, and by strengthening the eye area and restoring firmness. Skin is left looking smooth, radiant and firm.

This is the eye version of the Ultimune serum but besides being hydrating to the eye area, I don’t really see amazing results, it just feels like a hydrating eye gel/serum.

Wrinkle Smoothing Contour Serum (30ml full size, $145). Powered by ReNeura Technology and Retinol Soft Caps, this retinol serum enhances skin’s self-restoring power to improve the appearance of wrinkles and skin’s resilience in just 1 week*. The unique retinol capsules release and deliver fresh ingredients the moment you apply, helping to visibly lift deep wrinkles and sagging skin from within.

This is the first time for me trying out their Benefiance range and I am glad that it is a serum, and a contouring one at that! Who doesn’t need a bit of contouring, yeah?! This serum is supposed to smooth and contour with retinol ingredients so I will use it at nighttime after softener and after the Ultimune.

My face feels comfortable with the serum on and if doesn’t leave a sticky film or greasy feeling on top. It’s only 5ml, so I can’t really comment anymore on it’s efficacy and benefits. Lasts about 3 days of use.

ModernMatte Powder Lipstick in 515 Mellow Drama ($56). This non-drying formula delivers matte, full-coverage colour that feels utterly weightless and provides a powder-soft finish on lips. A unique blend of waxes and oils melts and transforms into an ultra-thin, featherweight powder, while spherical pigments float across lips to blur imperfections. Available in 24 shades inspired by Tokyo’s vibrant nightlife, this statement-making lipstick provides eight hours of rich, velvety colour.

I already have a couple of shades in their ModernMatte formula and they are a treat to use. It’s not a dry matte formula and it glides on creamy soft and smooth and dries down to like a velvet matte. It is not long-wearing meaning it will rub off and you need to be careful. It won’t bleed, and it’s really easy to apply and blend out to the edges to soften the look. Gorgeous size for my smaller bags
