Frank Body Shower Together set

Where I got it

I remember seeing all these coffee scrubs on IG and Facebook a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed them especially during summer and my leg and arms are always showing. I have been using the Soap and Glory salt scrubs as well as the Lush body Magic Crystals body scrub (OMG, I love this so so much!), but I have never tried the Frank Body scrubs. They have been in Mecca for a long long time, but I never really looked into it or checked out their smell.

While Mecca is big on their holiday gift sets, I wasn’t particularly interested because I feel like I have all the products I need at the moment and nothing really I need to stock up or is that much of an amazing deal. However, I came across this set and it looks like a pretty good deal for something I don’t have a lot of and have not tried before. I don’t think this is a limited edition set, but Mecca do sell these 2 packs separately. $11 for the original version and $12 for the rose gold shimmer version. This set is $22 which means you save a dollar.

What I got

This is the Frank Body Shower Together set (2x 100g). Say hello to your shower best friends and achieve smooth soft skin from top to toe. Both scrubs will help you buff away dead skin cells and promote silky soft skin. Opt for the classic Original Coffee Scrub, or if you want that little bit of shimmer in your life turn to the Rose Gold Shimmer Scrub.

How I find it

I cracked open the Rose Gold Shimmer scrub first and goodness me it smells so nice and looks so pretty! I love a good body scrub but I don’t use a coffee scrub often because I find that they tend to be a little messy and quite harsh on the skin. I usually use a body wash first to cleanse everything and then I use the scrub all over my body.

The Rose Gold shimmer version smells like any other coffee scrub but it has beautiful pink and gold shimmers in it. The formula is a little dry and I need to dig into the packet with my wet hands and grab product out. This is actually the part I hate the most because the opening of the pack not very big and you just can’t dip in once and that’s it. You need to dig in again because the formula isn’t really “little goes a long way”.

I need to mix it up with a little bit of water to make the scrub a little easier to spread and stick to my skin instead of falling off right away leaving me no time to rub. The scrub feels quite abrasive but I can feel my skin getting a good exfoliation and moisturise at the same time. It does recommend for you to leave it on the skin for 3 minutes and then rinse off, but I never do that, because who waits in the shower like that for 3 minutes?! I rinse it off right away and thoroughly rinse my shower floor.

My entire body and bathroom now smell like coffee and I’m not mad (I’m not a coffee drinker but I do like the smell of coffee). My skin feels super smooth and moisturised like I put body oil on. It’s not a greasy feeling and I can put my clothes on straight away. My skin shimmers beautifully with the leftover mica on my skin and it looks very even.

After

The classic scrub is just your classic coffee scrub. The formula is also quite dry and the granules will fall off your hands if you don’t cup your hands or mix with a bit of water. Every time I rub it on any part of my body, some of the scrubs will fall off. I am tempted to pour some coconut oil in the packet and let it mix to make the texture less dry…

Overall

For $11 a packet if you buy a single small packet, it is quite a good value. The small packet could last you at least 4-5 uses depending on how much you use. That is about $2 per treatment. I prefer the small packet because it is good for travelling and because I always dig in with wet fingers, the product will get contaminated and I would like to use it up asap.

I know that coffee scrubs seem to be something you can DIY at home, but unless you know how to disinfect all your tools and preserve your products, you really need to use up the end product to quickly to prevent contamination problems because there are no preservatives or preservation process.

I personally prefer my salt scrubs or something that is a lot wetter or cream-like if you know what I mean. I like to be able to scoop the product out from a jar or squeeze from a tube, and spread on my skin without product falling off. I might try their other versions but I know they just smell differently, no difference in texture.
