Kerastase 8hr Magic Night Serum

Where I got it

After a good week of listening to The Beauty IQ podcast by Adore Beauty, I was putting everything the girls have been raving about into my shopping cart. Unfortunately some of the products are really expensive, especially the serums and peels they recommend, so I need to start off slowly (this is my second product from their influence!)

This product is available in salons and Haircare stores, and I got mine from Shampoo N Things in Botany Town Centre for $70. Adore Beauty also stocks this but at $71.

How I find it

For about 3 years now, I have been trying to grow and cut out all my damaged hair after years or colouring, ironing and chemical straightening. I have been doing keratin treatment to my hair every 6 months at the same hair salon, trimming my hair every 3-4 months. I have naturally curly and frizzy hair so I need to keep it long and not too much layers. I also like to tie my hair up and out of the way so I want to keep it at least shoulder length.

Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I’m looking after my hair. Except for blow drying it every time I wash my hair (every 2-3 days), I don’t use heat tools or colour my hair. I use a hair mask every 3 washes and I use a leave-on hair treatment each time I was my hair (been using the Kerastase Elixir Ultime Beautifying Oil, it’s really nice but can be a bit heavy sometimes).

Kerastase 8hr Magic Night Serum

I washed my hair the day I got this hair serum and applied about 2 pumps of this serum and rubbed it into my damp hair. Then I used another 2 pumps because I felt like it kind of disappeared in my long, thick hair (trial and error right?). I then blow dry as usual and my hair feels smooth and felt more manageable! It didn’t feel too greasy or thick, like that feeling you’d get when you applied too much product.

After blow drying, my hair is less frizzy and pouffy. I put my hair in a loose ponytail before I go to bed and in the morning, my hair felt smooth and soft! Frizziness is tamed significantly and my hair doesn’t look and feel flat.

Overall

I am very impressed and excited about this product! First impression was amazing and after at least 5 uses I still love it. It smells nice and makes my hair feel so soft! I like to use it before blow drying and also after blow drying. It doesn’t weight my hair down or make it too greasy.

I would prefer this over the oil I have been using, but when it comes to providing that shine, the oil does a better job.
