Mecca Max Over The Moon Eyeshadow Palette

Where I got it

I got this on the Mecca website as part of a beauty loop level 3 perk where I can order new items online before they are released in stores. I already saw this palette on the Mecca IG about 3 weeks ago and I really wanted it and had no idea they were going to let us have first dips. Anyway, I ordered this on a Tuesday and it arrived on Friday! The 25-shade palette is $44 for 37.5g. Which is 1.5g per shade.

How I find it

There are 25 shades in the palette and there are a mixture of matte, shimmery and glittery shades. It also has a generous mirror on the top and the palette can be laid flat and potentially the mirror can be folded back.

Shades from left to right: Row 1: Dream On, High, Mellow, Suga, Hustle. Dream in is a matte nine shade, High is a shimmery pale champagne. Mellow is a matte peach. Suga is a glittery rose-gold. Hustle is a shimmery yellow gold shade. The first row is mostly lighter shades.

Row 2: Rad, Hot Pants, Diva, Trance, Hubba Hubba. Rad is a shimmery champagne. Hot Pants is a beautiful shimmery pink. Diva is a matte orangey coral. Trance is a glittery reddish brown. Hubba Hubba is a matte pinky peach.

Row 3: Flipside, Funkadelic, Boss, Free Love, Lava Lamp. Flipside is a gorgeous matte fuchsia, Funkadelic is a glittery purple. Boss is a matte coral red. Free Love is a shimmery orange. Lava Lamp is a glittery reddish-bronze.

Row 4: Dough, Disco Fever, Gossip, Hyped, Foxy. Dough is a matte light brown. Disco Fever is glittery white-silver. Gossip is a shimmery light warm brown. Hyped is a matte chocolate brown. Foxy is a glittery old gold shade with a green undertone.

Row 5: Skyline, Groovy, Soul Train, Peace Out, Darkside. Skyline is a gorgeous shimmery cobalt blue. Groovy is a shimmery green with a black shift. Soul Train is a matte burnt red. Peace Out is a true matte black.

Overall

Really beautiful palette to look at and while there are heaps of different shades, I would say this is more suited for someone who wears more colourful eye makeup. The top 2-3 rows seem to be quite easy to use and they sort of complement each other, but the bottom 2 rows are a little difficult to use with the rest of the palette. For example, the blue and green shade at the bottom row is really hard to use over any of the pinky, orange and coral shades above. You will definitely need to use another product to make some of these shades work.

Mellow as a base colour, working Trance from the centre and outwards. Blending a bit of Hubba Bubba and finishing the upper eyeline with Funkadelic

Blending Hyped and Dough to the outer corners and then bringing it in with Gossip

The formula of these shades are really good, the matte shades are really smooth and not chalky and apply evenly. The metallics are beautiful and also very smooth, but I did run into a little bit of problem with the glittery shades where it does have fall-out when I use a brush to apply. When I use my fingers to pat on glittery shades, it will stay put and applies much better.

Using Lava Lamp as base colour and then Hustle from the centre to the inner corner of the eyes

Using Mellow as a base shade and then applying Funkadelic over the lid area with fingertips.

Overall, I love this palette, despite some of the darker shades I won’t wear as often. It’s way too big to bring to my travels so this will definitely stay in my bathroom. $44 is actually very reasonable, but I am really looking forward to a more neutral palette from Mecca Max because with all their Sugar Queen, Desert Queen and Beauty Queen palettes, they are more on the pinky, coral, peachy shades. I strongly suggest a neutral palette for their next Queen palette that would best complement all their previous palettes!
