Garnier SkinActive Masks

Where I got it: I got these masks from the Chemist Warehouse in Botany for $3.00 each. I have not seen these from supermarkets or Farmers or pharmacies. I guess they are imported products.

What I got: These are the Garnier SkinActive Masks – Juicy Peel Mask (A new generation of face mask combining Lemon Extract and Smoothing Active Glycolic Acid in a jelly texture that illuminates for smooth, radiant skin with a healthy glow.), Matcha +Kaolin Mask (A new generation of face mask combining Matcha Tea and Kaolin Clay in a creamy-clay texture that purifies for refreshed, mattified and clean skin.) and Volcano Mask (A new generation of face mask combining Volcanic rock and Clay in a self-heating clay texture that minimises the appearance of pores for pure, smooth skin.)

Garnier SkinActive Masks

How I find it: I was only able to get 3 out of the 5 masks they have in this range and at $3 each, they are not the most affordable mask or best-value mask I’ve bought or used.

I tried out the Juicy Peel Mask first and I was expecting this would be a mask that when you apply it, it is a gel, then it will dry up and you can peel it off, hence the name “peel mask”. However, this is only a rinse-off mask. The gel is a little runny, but I had no problems applying this mask onto my face and there was plenty of product for the entire face to be covered in a decent later. The mask is quite comfortable on the skin as it does not dry down. Washes off with a bit of help with a cleansing sponge and my skin feels soft and supple which is quite standard with gel masks. They tend you hydrate your skin. Not very impressed but not disappointed with the mask, so I don’t think I will repurchase.

Garnier SkinActive Juicy Peel Mask

Garnier SkinActive Juicy Peel Mask

Matcha + Kaolin Mask has a creamy texture with a pale green shade. There is plenty of product in there so it covered my entire face thickly. I waited for 10 mins and it did not really fully dry, nor did it dry hard and crackly which I like. It does draw out the oils from your pores, but it would either take a long time to see from the mask, or you can split this mask into 2 uses since there is so much product in one sachet. I like the cleansing effect of this mask, when I wash off the mask with the help of a cleansing sponge, my pores feels and looks cleaner and my skin feels refreshed.

Garnier SkinActive Matcha + Kaolin Mask

The Volcano Mask seems pretty similar to the Matcha + Kaolin mask in terms of its cleansing claims. However, this mask is much thicker and more clay-like. It is self-heating which I like but does not dry down fully to a tight, crackly texture. Around the edges, you will see the mask getting lighter in colour and begin to turn pale orange.  After washing off, my face feels clean and smooth. I think this is probably the one I like the most out of the 3.

Garnier SkinActive Volcano Mask

Overall: I love cleansing masks in the form of a clay mask but I like my hydrating and moisturising masks in the form of a sheet mask more. Out of the 3 masks I got, I prefer the Volcano masks, Matcha + Kaolin then the Juicy Peel mask. Purely because the most effective results with the Volcano mask more and little or should I say, not long-lasting results with the Juicy Peel mask. Overall, I don’t think I will repurchase these masks. At $3 a pop, I don’t think they live up to my expectations. My favourite clay mask currently is still the Kiehl’s Rare Earth mask or the Murad Pomegranate Pore-extractor Mask , and my favourite sheet mask has got to be Huxley Secret of Sahara Mask ($6 a piece but soo good) at the moment for hydration and moisturisation. For a special cleansing mask, I love the Ordinary AHA 30% and BHA 2% peeling solution which gives my skin a powerful exfoliation. Otherwise the Antipodes Manuka Honey mask is also a really good calming and anti-bacterial mask.
