Huxley Secret of Sahara Mask: Oil and Extract

Where I got it: I got this from the Hikoco shop in New Market for $22 as they were on special from $36. You can shop at their New Market location or you can also shop online. I always like to shop for cosmetics and makeup in the location if the staff there are nice and I’m not pressured into buying anything. I like to try things on the back of my hand, smell it and look at the packaging in real life. However, it is not every weekend that I can go out to shop for makeup (because I can spend hours and hours), so most of the time I shop online. What’s great about Korean beauty shops or online shops, they almost ALWAYS give you free samples. I have been to Korea a few years back and by just entering the shop, they give you samples to take, you don’t even have to buy anything! Some shops even put out baskets of samples around the shop for you to grab.

I actually have just found out that I know a particular WeChat group that sells this mask for only $18. Which makes it half the price of the original from Hikoco! I have already ordered 2 more packs from that group! If you want to purchase or buy, let me know.

What I got: This is the Huxley Secret of Sahara Mask: Oil and Extract (3 masks). Moisturising facial sheet mask with the synergy of prickly pear seed oil and cactus extract. When prickly pear seed oil and cactus extract are blended, it transforms into a unique type of formula optimised for the skin. The tightly woven microfibers are 150 times finer than regular fibers. This microfiber sheet not only has a silky texture but also helps the skin absorb a formula more quickly.

How I find it: The interesting thing with this mask is that it has two compartments (similar experience with the Estee Lauder ANR eye mask) where you have to fold the bottom part up until it breaks the seal between 2 compartments, mix the ingredients together so that the mask sheet is soaked in the goodness. Open the packet and apply the sheet mask on your face. Wait for 15-20 minutes and remove. You can wash it off if you prefer.

So, it sounds quite interesting and fun, right? It actually is, but to break that seal between the compartment took me a good 5 minutes because it was so tough! I was quite glad that the packet is quite strong and my nails did not dig through the packet. However, just looking at the two formula mix together was a treat. The top part (green) is the cactus extract and the bottom part (yellow) is the oil formula. Once mixed, it turns into a light yellowish green which is still a very pleasant colour. There is a slight scent to the formula and it is very pleasant and not overpowering at all.

The mask sheet is a bit thick and opaque. Not really the stretchy type but it fits my face perfectly with a little extra space around my jawline. The total amount of product in each packet once you mixed it is 25g which is a heck of a lot. The mask does not tear easily and it helps to keep the product from evaporating into the air and helps absorption into the skin.

Overall: I absolutely love this mask even at this price range at around $6 per sheet. It is absolutely worth it because I save the extra essence from the packet as well in a small little jar and use it as a serum. It lasts for at least 4-5 uses too!

So back to the results of the mask, I just love it! It makes my skin super smooth and hydrated, not the least bit greasy or too heavy for my skin. It did not cause any breakouts or little bumps on my skincare nor did it make me blackheads worse. I ended up having the mask on for 30 mins and removed it without rinsing. The essence was absorbed nicely into my skin without any sticky or oily residue.
